The track changes I dislike the most are for the Österreichring. Of course, it would have absolutely dreadful racing compared to the modern Red Bull Ring but it would be a wonderful track to drive on. The Red Bull Ring is like a castrated version of its former self.

Les Amis du Reims-Geaux are the gold standard for old circuit restoration! Bravo! If only every old track had an organization as dedicated and indefatigable as the Amis!

As a patron, watchers must be advised that despite the tremendous work of the volunteers of the “amis-du-circuit-de-gueux”, they have been fighting with the town council for about a year, under pressure to hand over all they have done to commercial owners. The argument being, that the volunteers cannot provide a long-term future for the site, and as such their current forecast for car meets has since been significantly reduced.

It was available to commercial interests for many years- and nothing happened. If it were turned over to owners at this point, it would be gone in no time.

I think its a small group on the council of Gueux that have gained power that are the problem. I last visited in Aug 2022 and it's noticeable how much more has been done since then. Allez les Amis !!

@@Circuitsofthepast True. I remember an article in Motorsprt magazine from 1997? Said something along 'it's not going to be here for long' so Allez les Ami's! Forgive my poor French?

That's what I want for those abandoned tracks: restoration and preservation, even if the track is only used for revival series and track days, I don't want to see important pieces of the history left to rot. I would love to see tracks like Sitges Terramar receiving this kind of treatment!😁

Wow, when you said in previous videos that there was a group of weekenders who were voluntarily renovating, I thought that'd take years to have any noticeable effect but this is amazing already. Well done to them. I wish there were more people like this out there. Stellar job.

I remember watching the Grand Prix from that very place in 1992, maybe five metres from the memorial. Recall some (fairly drunk) guys trying to jump the waterway behind the perimeter fence to sneak in for free..they didn't make it!

I drove old spa yesterday as I was there for the first time ever and also to see the 2024 Spa Classic. Driving the old (public) roads made me very happy and also wanting to speed , but the respect I had made me go slow and contemplate. Sadly In comparison to here, Stavelot banking and la carriere are in pretty bad Condition... Anyways, Spa is now definitely a Spot which I will visit way more often and ill always drive the old course as and Hommage when ill be there. Thanks a lot for the Video !

You're welcome. I'm wondered to read Stavelot banking an La Carrière are in bad condition. Last year this part was closed for road construction works. See also this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7x5q7qGvLK2lJs.html
@Jr55amg14 күн бұрын
@Circuitsofthepast well , the entry to the banking is now a T junction , the Asphalt was pretty roughed up with quite some potholes. La carriere is on a stretch of about 200-300m full of potholes. They will certainly better it out but it really wasn't a pleasure driving over it with sport suspension.
