You’re too young to remember an old B&W western tv show called Death Valley Days. Every week would be another vulnerable family w a pregnant wife getting lost in Death Valley on FOOT. It scared the hell out of me as a little kid. When we actually drove thru on your same route there I saw a sign w a skull & crossbones saying “last chance to get gas & water.” I bet that was sick seeing that jet come thru there!! Excellent video. Binge watching them all.

This subject has actually come up very recently. This trip was 5 years ago in 2018. This year in 2023 I am supposed to ride from Alabama to Wisconsin. It would be a 760 mile ride. I just don't think I could do that any more and honestly don't think my old 2005 Road King could make it either 🥺

I grew up in rural WV in the early 60s. Us kids used to stand in the road and hope a car might come by so we could wave at it. A big thrill to see a car. Everyone waved at cars out there & they waved back! That was really cute.

"Mountain's still there"!!! Thank God! I haven't been out there since early '90's. One thing about that part of our great country is how desert looking NM is. The architecture is very distinct for the southwest and that cottonwood tree is probably a rarity out there. Great job, 'see you' next week sometime.

Thanks so much for watching Jim. I am working on editing the next video today and trying to get out by tomorrow morning. Day 17 was finishing the ride across Texas and having some of the best smoked Brisket I've ever tasted just outside of Austin. I also got to ride a series of roads they call "The Three Sisters" out there that were pretty cool.

Glad to see you got another video out, look forward to following your trip as you post. Albuquerque is close to my heart, used to do a lot of work at Sandia in the '80's. Loved Quarters restaurant. Not sure if they're still in business. The warm-up on all our winter trips was a half day of skiing at Sandia Peak. Got the legs and lungs in shape for end-of-the-week trips to Purgatory in Durango. Take care, look forward to next weeks video!

Thanks so much Jim! The next video will show my time in Albuquerque. I stopped there to spend Memorial Day weekend with my motorcycle club. We had a nice camping spot down near Los Lunas right on the Rio Grande. I was stationed there from 2010 to 2014 and worked at the Air Force's NWC and spent a LOT of time working with the awesome engineers at Sandia on many of my projects. Actually going back in October 2023 to celebrate my daughters birthday and see the Balloon Fiesta again. I smell the Golden Pride breakfast burritos already! Red or Green chili? :)

Not too many rides that I can think of in Panama City per se, at least not like you can find other places like Sturgis. That being said, one of the nicest rides I did in that area was riding HWY 98 along the coast line into the "Arm pit" of the Florida peninsula if that makes sense. Apalachicola is a really nice area to ride through as well.

Glad you had a good experience in my hometown (Jamestown) as well as the wonderful state of ND. I've never had a MC flat tire and wonder if you could have plugged your puncture and aired it up? I think the Oregon coast is by far the best choice of any coastline out here in the West. I never got tired of it. If you make it all the way down and cross over into Northern California heading down through the redwoods on highway 101 so really nice redwoods in there big Big trees, they say there's plenty of bigfoots around there :-)

Weekly release right on time Bigfoot! Day 11 behind you, hoping you have better weather coming up. Have to admit, I would have stopped at a hotel that late at night. Cold & wet faced with setting up camp, or grabbing a hotel with a hot shower I'd have picked the latter. But I sense this trip was something more than that for you and setting up camp somewhere was the right answer for you. Great riding, thanks for posting.
