My mother had one of my baby shoes bronzed here in England - I'm 70 now and treasure it as one of the few things left over from my childhood

I had 3 of those flimsy storage shelving. They were cheap, maybe less than $30, and served a purpose when we were broke after buying a new home. After time passed, I upgraded to nice larger heavy duty ones from Costco and passed the cheap one to my son and wife after they didn’t have any for their home.

I was almost moved to tears when you said about the beautiful arrows your father had made... "I remember these being in the garage since I was born." It reminded me of my Grandmother's home that I grew up in. Everything in her house was as it had been from my childhood until I inhereited it all and cleaned it out at age 30. Which was 36 years ago. She went through the great depression and was very frugal by necessity. Thank you for sharing your videos it has helped me to complete the last of my own journey of letting go. I just shipped off lace and antique linens to a museum, quilts to yet another museum, and mailed 1938 sunday school handouts to a church around where my grandma lived. Thank you.

I think the Binks is a pressurizing vessel. I've seen very similar items used to put pressure on liquid epoxy when pouring into a mold. It pushes the bubbles out of the epoxy as it is curing. Did your Mom ever make epoxy crafts?

The large white plastic thing in the garage is for a clothes dryer. You put inside to hold sneakers for drying . It prevents the drum from spinning so the shoes are not noisy. I threw mine away

Yes. I was going to say the same thing. You can also dry a sweater laying flat without it tumbling. 😀

Bronzing shoes was a common thing. Usually it is your first pair of shoes you walked in. I am in my 50’s and my mom had my shoes done and they were attached to a picture frame.

The fake grass I thought was available in small squares and you could lay them down one by one and do it your self in the morning before it gets too hot. I think you're supposed to put salt or something underneath/before you put the fake grass down. Probably KZfaq could tell you.

I love her frog door stop! Great job on the garage! Good idea to put the tools in the dining room for the sale. You're probably going to get people who want to come in early for the tool sale. Can you use the kitchen to put the holiday stuff in? You've done an amazing job Mindy, I've watched all your videos from day 1 to now :)

Thank you! My mom made the frog door stop. She used to make tons of them and sell them at local craft fairs back in the 80s. The kitchen isn't big enough for all of the holiday stuff, I need the majority of the living room empty to display it all.

Great job Mindy! I love both the cats! Coco is so cute, you can tell that she loves you very much! I love hearing her purr! Mr. Cat is adorable too, and oh so smart! You can definitely see all the progress being made. I love that your Mom had an office and a craft room! She had very nice things. I like too, that she had alot of the original boxes. I have stuff here and it looks like I have boarderline hoarding tendencies. I hate that for me. I had 3 Brothers, all have passed. I went downhill after the deaths. I am wondering if I have any good stuff, I doubt it, cause I can't see any. I can't wait till my trash, recycle, stuff is gone. Then I have to deal with all the other. I have been watching since day one when you started. I love your videos. I love how you plan things out.

Hi, I don't know what you have in mind for the very near future. Whether you are moving in or selling the home. Nonetheless, I would hold on to the tools. They are very expensive. You never know if you will be doing some home improvements, whether it will be a whole room, the whole house, or just a tiny thing like drilling a nail on the wall. Things find out about the most used tools people who know nothing about construction usually have for ER reasons. Hold on to them until you are 💯 sure you are not going to ever use them, or you can patiently sell them online for a good price.
@chickabiddies3 күн бұрын
Most of the tools I am keeping. The ones I am selling are the ones I will not use, like the pneumatic tools and the chain saws. Also a lot of duplicate tools I am keeping the newer version and selling the older ones.

Yay for all your hard work Mindy! Funny thing, when I finish a task around the house now, I say “Yay!” in your tone of voice and think of you - cracks me up, it’s pretty inspirational. 2 things: one, that white thing in the garage may go in the dryer as a rack for laying things flat to dry. Look it up. I had one, never knew what the H it was for until someone told me, and I tossed it when I moved. 2. I would like to suggest that you tidy the area on the far side of the truck that you showed today. Move the things to the other side, make a ‘dump’ pile outside of the side garage door maybe until you have enough to fill the truck, and then sweep it out. Don’t leave stuff on the shelves to decide on on another day. Work on one small area at a time and take each item to its new home as you work. For sale goes into the house, keep goes into a keep pile (wherever that is) (if you don’t have that designated, do it now) donate goes into the truck and trash goes into the bin or on the curb. Leave a completely handled space behind you as you go. You’ll feel the progress more that way I think. Love your energy, even when you are feeling defeated. I’m cheering you on from Montana :)

Oooh I hadn't thought of that! I'll check the dryer and see if it fits. Thanks Shannon!

I have the same shoes with my name and birthdate on little label things. My mom had them on bookends. Not sure they were actual shoes we wore or just some kind of kitschy thing you could order back in the day
@nataliegraham95522 күн бұрын
My bronzed baby shoes were on bookends too. 😊 My Mom sent in my actual baby shoes to the company that bronzed them and mounted them on the bookends. That was the thing to do back in the 60s/70s! Maybe even later. Mine didn't hold up well after many decades of sitting around in storage - started to corrode, and got bent up - so they ended up going in the trash. They also weren't a keepsake I had much interest in, and I know my daughter wouldn't want them after I'm gone.

My daughter was born in 1972. I had a pair of her leather baby shoes bronzed by the same company. I mailed the shoes to them and ordered them mounted onto a faux wood base with a copper picture frame set between the two shoes. There were two copper strips glued to the base. One had her name engraved and the other her birth date. I still have her shoes and the metal strips, but the base and picture frame came apart some years ago.

Sounds exactly like what I found, minus the wood base and picture frame. It must have been a popular thing to do back in the 70s.
