Most excellent job! Thank you. Concise and yet detailed. No BS small talk that consumes time. I gotta get one of those vacuum things, though. Saves a lot of time and effort! Thanks again.

For those of you who are wondering the oil filter cap is a 27/mm wrench. The toque required should be on the cap itself. Recommended oil type should be on the oil cap itself. Thank me later. !!

why not measure the pump hose with the dipstick to be sure it was near the bottom of the sump?

The "no brakes" were a result of a failed P38 Brake Modulator (similar to the brake master cylinder). Apparently in the pre 1999 p38s, there is a plastc washer vs. a stainless steel washer on the shaft off the brake piston that is prone to failure under extreme conditions. After towing the truck to my mechanic, we changed the brake modulator( brake master cylinder), bled the brakes and everything is working as it should. A big thanks to my fellow Socal Land Rover Club members that helped get me and my truck back down the mountain. It took us a good 7-8 hours of synchronized off-roading between 2-4 Vehicles to descend. A special thanks to Ed, our "synchronizer" who kept us all moving together as safely as we could and walked the majority of the descent to make sure he could keep an eye on all the trucks, ropes, straps, roads, rocks, and everything else that came into play on our journey down heart break ridge.

Did they loose a brake line or something else? I always make sure to have some small vice grips in case a line needs isolated.

THANK YOU for posting this! Can you please tell me how far you went up? Did you drive all the way to White Mountain Road? Also, where did the water stop flowing? I really appreciate your reply. This video has really been helpful for me - I'm planning to ride my bike from Badwater to the White Mountain Summit this October. Thanks in advance!

Nice video, good work! What size tires are in that L.R? Been thinking about doing that route but a lot of what have read online says it's a sketchy/ tippy/ very difficult trail for highly modified vehicles. What were your impressions of that route?
@ubonfante
@ubonfante 2 жыл бұрын
Conditions seem to vary and can worsen quickly when it's wet - which happens quite often of course, you're in the Sierras after all - as you can see in the video things can get slippery and sketchy in a hurry, and as always the video doesn't give any idea of how steep and off-camber the trail gets in several places. Having said that, we went up with a stock Tacoma, a moderately lifted Land Cruiser and my minimally modified LR4 (rock sliders and fairly grippy, 285/60R18 Nitto Ridge Grappler tires being the only mods) without any issues, it took use a couple of hours and change to go a couple of miles, but we had a grand time and really enjoyed the challenge of that "Most Difficult" stretch a great deal, so you don't really need highly modified rock crawlers. It is essential to go with an experienced spotter that you completely trust in my opinion, that alone will make 80% of the really tough spots negotiable. You'll get through the remaining 20% with decent ground clearance, grippy tires, keeping cool nerves and not doing anything rash or stupid behind the wheel when things get a bit slippery. We came back down through Bishop (steep, dusty and longer, but a much easier way out), none of us were up to doing the Big Pine trail again in reverse at the end of that fantastic weekend, lol. We love Coyote Flat.
