Very interesting area, had never heard of it before. Looks blissfully unoccupied, so it's good that people don't know of it, I suppose. I learned a lot just now about the CBP, scablands and glacial floods, doing some googling, so thanks for that too!

Yeah it’s an amazing landscape. My trip was in late fall so other than a fishing tournament I had the place to myself. I imagine summer is pretty busy. The glacial flood theory is very interesting and we sail lake Pendoreille a lot, which is where they say the floodgates opened causing the lake to be over 1200 feet deep. It would have been an amazing sight seeing that much water carve out a new landscape ! Thanks for watching our videos!!

I would like to know what the dowel like piece is attached to the he rudder and the tiller. I have been researching ways/modifications with which to raise and lower the lower half of the WW P 15. What is on yours looks like a solution.

Yeah it was built by a previous owner and it definitely worked but it was kinda bulky and cumbersome. I removed it because I’m rebuilding the rudder and I think I’m going to use lines and clam cleats instead. I’ll share in a video sometime what I come up with !

Love this and you guys. Sail on as often as you can. All the best from Peterborough Ontario, where I sail my Grampian 26 out of Newcastle for the last 5 years. I had wanted a trailer sailor, but ended up going bigger, knowing how inertia works and that I'd sail more often driving 45 min to Lake Ontario to a keel boat, but love what you guys are doing so much! Enjoy and much respect!

Hey thank you so much! A keel boat on Lake Ontario sounds amazing!! I imagine there’s plenty of cruising grounds there and lots to explore. We definitely hope to sail as much as we can and hopefully in the future wander further away from home. Possibly someday we will end up in the Great Lakes on another adventure. Thanks for watching!!

Been to Johnson Creek sooo many times.. My parents lived in Clark Fork for many years.. AND when I lived in Cocolalla I had my 1st sail boat. 27' retractable keel Clipper Marine. I sailed Lake Pend Oreille so many times. Every year I would take a week and just stay on the lake. A favorite mooring was WHISKEY ROCK BAY. QUIET during the week. I did put auto pilot on my tiller and that was a blessing. after 5 years or so of this and made all the mistakes I thought I could I bought a 10.7 Mtr, ( 35' ) sloop in San Diego and away I went !!! live aboard for 8 years.. Sailed mostly alone from San Diego to Ft. Myers Florida. OH YA I had adventures !!! Well I finally got married, got OLD ( 85 ) and now watch your videos that bring back so MANY great memories !! KEEP IT UP !!

what are your thoughts on using an electric trolling motor on these sizes of boats? when you have no wind?
@ruddyducksailing
@ruddyducksailing Күн бұрын
We used a trolling motor for the first year and it worked great. You are limited on range though and that’s the reason we got a gas outboard. our larger lakes trips can span over a hundred miles and the trolling motor battery lasts for maybe 6 miles. But If you’re patient with the wind and are confident in your sailing abilities a electric motor is is a good way to go

Excellent video! I am a new WWP15 owner (1997) - and I noticed that your WWP15 has a rudder push/pull rod installed. I am very interested any details of the push/pull rod you would be willing to share - specifically its overall length, materials used and how the push/pull rod and rudder are connected. Thanks again for sharing your sailing adventures.
@ruddyducksailing
@ruddyducksailing 5 күн бұрын
Yeah the rod was installed by a previous owner but it’s a 1”x34” oak rod with 3”x1.5” stainless L brackets where it attaches to the rudder. It’s contained at the top of the rudder stock by a piece of 1” conduit. Overall it works ok and is a cool idea but the forces needed to move it up and down are considerable. It probably needs more leverage at the attachment of the rudder. Thanks for watching the videos!!

Hello from Cornwall, UK! It looks so beautiful there and that camp spot was idyllic. I’m new to sailing with a 21ft Corribee. I have a 2 year old boy and I’m looking forward to exploring the coast and coves with him when he grows up. Gotta say, I’m envious that you don’t have massive tidal ranges and mud to deal with on those beautiful lakes 😂
@ruddyducksailing
@ruddyducksailing 8 күн бұрын
Hello. It’s definitely a special place! The Coribee looks like a great boat and possibly one you could dry out on a tidal flat? I hope to gain some coastal experience soon on our west coast near Seattle where there’s strong currents and tides. Gonna be interesting. And sailing with family is the best so I’m excited for you to have those experiences in the future!!

@MegaSeany1 7 күн бұрын
@@ruddyducksailing thanks for the reply! Yeah it’s a solid little cruiser and for a newbie it’s very forgiving. Built not far from where I live actually, back in the 80s I think. It’s a bilge/split keel which is very common in the UK - intended for drying out. It’s moored on a creek and sits in the mud each time the tide ebbs. Good to know if I miscalculate an adventure upstream! Thanks mate, it’s all about shared experiences right. Cheers for the great vids, I’ll keep watching. Enjoy your Seattle sailing!
