I did say girlfriend. I cannot speak for anyone except myself, however, my child lives in a two parent household and is filled with love. The idea of marriage is not front and center in my mind.

It's not 8 seconds. it's 12 seconds before and after it goes off. AND it records sound 24/7, so not only are you being watched, but they are listening to you as well. It records everything you say in your truck even if the curtain is closed they hear everything and then they send the Convenient Brad/Richard videos that happens to relate to your conversations so yeah its for the drivers safety 😅

I drove for two companies whi had these same cameras, didnt have any issues with the 1st company, but the 2nd company i was called in on 4 occasions for following to close, texting talking on the phone in hand while driving, we look at the videos and the follow close Noone was in front of me, the texting video showed i had no phone in hand as well as the talking one i was talking but through a headseat 🤦♂️, i understand its all for safety but i cant stand them

I’m not longer with academy. I made what was average for the company. It depends a lot on what terminal you’re out of. You can make 1,200 a week depending on how hard you run and your availability, you can also make more.

I took a break from trucking because I recently had a kid, however the company side is mileage pay and for each week out it’s 1 day off I believe. Still not your typical carrier. @@Flawampuscat Academy bus doesn't currently have a program, but if you're in Orlando, Mears Transportation should still be operating theirs! They cover the schooling and everything! They don't even have a "You have to work for us" contract. May drivers just leave once they pass the road test!

This is such an under rated CDL job. I was going to get my CDL A but I'm such a people person I'd much rather drive busses. There is an art form to being a great bus driver and I'm hoping to get into the field soon whether it be an charter driver or route driver.

As a lease operator hirschbach pays by the mile instead of percentage. The good part is your don’t pay for tolls, reefer fuel, and the fuel program is 99¢ pg. better company and better culture.

How many weeks of training did they give you? As a motorcoach operator do you have regular runs or so they have you on call? You wasn't lying about greyhound especially when they give you runs you didn't want to do. I don't my cdl yet i still plan to study for my cdl permit again. How long was you a trucker before you went to Greyhound then Academy Bus?

I’m sorry I didn’t see this comment. I did one week of training with Academy and they fast tracked me because I had prior experience driving motor coach. Greyhound is good company but it’s too much politics and nonsense for me. I drove busses from 2018 and trucks during the pandemic and periodically. I’ve always been a bus driver.

No disrespect to you but you sound like a kid who's simply excited about driving buses. I started working part-time at Academy back in 1997 at Hoboken and learned all too quickly that Academy was so unfair to their drivers with respect to pay. Drivers were cheated out of wages and I had my share of those experiences too. Back during those days, drivers could compensate by using the buses for personal endeavors. After the company installed GPS and cameras, those opportunities waned. Long days with low pay. Heavy load bearing work like airport pickups for 50 people who have 100 Lbs of luggage each. You could end up packing nearly 5,000 Lbs of baggage in the bay area, all by yourself, especially at New York area airports. You will do the same at ship terminals too and hope that people will tip you. An extremely annoying regulation that Academy had and still has is the governance of the bus engines. Academy buses have a maximum speed of 68 MPH! Say your'e on the road in a state like Virginia where the speed limit is 70, you'll have a most difficult time to flow with traffic. We pleaded with the company for years to turn the governors up and they steadfastly refused. You come to work and learn that your job was cancelled? Academy doesn't compensate you. You'd better hope that something else opens up or you'll go home with no pay. That's the Academy way.
