I just bought a Kamadosan donabe, 3 go for rice, although I know it is mainly meant for rice cooking, I could make this recipe in it also, later on I plan on buying a donabe for nabemono recipes and use the Kamado for rice, and bring both to the dinner table.

Can you eat freshly made rice with the hot pot, as a full meal? And can I use those precooked udon noodles to eat the broth at the end?

What side dished do you recommend to this dish, it feels like it needs rice and some vegetables to balance it out.

Off camera voice is distracting and annoying. Why is their an off camera person talking and interrupting the presenter?

Sound stops at 0:39, alas! But starts again at 1:56. Luckily, the screen shows ingredients written, as she assembles the dish.

Hey Naoko, do you have any recommendations for cooking jasmine rice in Kamado-san? I can never get the rice to water ratio right and it always comes out soggy or burnt!

It tend to stick to all sides as you stir, so that's fine:)

When I miss Japan, it is often a food memory that triggers the feeling. I love and miss Japanese cuisine. Sharing a meal makes people like each other or as the feel closer with strong bond. Eating the same food leads to trust and cooperation because they feel closer with the feeling of intimacy among those eating together, share the experience with eating and drinking.

I know this video is from quite a long time ago at this point, but I wanted to say that after making this recently, the dish is very satisfying and full of so many interesting flavors! It was a wonderful change from some of the more mundane meals that we tend to default to through laziness. Thanks fr the recipe!

I bought an exact tagine from her company It looks beautiful. I dress it carefully before using it since it’s very expensive. However cleaning it is difficult. I always have some sticky burning pieces sticking at a bottom even I cook at low heat. I don’t want to use rough sponge since I am afraid to scratch it so soak wash soak wash for a few times. It’s a pain. Not 100% recommend it

As always with Naoko-san a very clear recipe based on pure ingredients, with the donabe concentrating the flavours. However, the sound of this video is strange. There is too much and too loud music. And the off camera voice sounds like Barry White. I would still eat it, of course.

Can you recommend which rice to use? Is “sushi” rice the best? Should I rinse it before I cook it, before I use it to season the donabe? Thanks so much for this tutorial!!! ❤
@NaokosHappyDonabeLife6 ай бұрын
I think you are referring to short grain rice (the kind of rice used for making sushi), that's what we suggest. Yes, before cooking rice, unless otherwise indicated in the package, always rinse the rice:) You can also find information in our website. toirokitchen.com/pages/how-to-use-kamado-san

I just randomly stumbled upon what a donabe is and ordered one a few days ago! I then looked up donabe meals on KZfaq and came across your channel! What timing that you just upload after taking around a year break! Thank you for your videos and hopefully you continue with new ones! Thanks Naoko-San!

I’ve been looking to buy a donabe from your site! What do you recommend for a first piece in terms of size/style? I was leaning towards a classic style in medium size and love the look of the wood knob one but wondering if the lack of oven capability will be an issue.
