Here we go. . . I fear an up and down year if the OL is going to be in triage all year again. Lack of consistency combined with a lack of anyone stepping up to solidify their spots is telling. Which of the young OL (true Soph. and below) are in the break glass in case of emergency group. The piece meal OL via the transfer portal has not been a successful process. May be forced to grow our home-grown group early out of necessity. Below avg o-line will hurt everyone's production. While hope may be alive, it is not a strategy for OL development.

What are the summer rules for practice as it relates to men’s basketball vs football? I see a lot of pictures of men’s basketball practice but don’t see many football practice pictures. Maybe the bball pics are old but curious on the limitations for each.

I feel like you're going to be running a bunch of wildcat/ground packages this year and I think Valdez is your first option in that package. I feel like Dickey is going to be the one to actually spell tahj in the normal offense.

LT was a massive question mark with Porcher... with him down you go back to Caleb who wasn't great at it 2 years ago. But it does let you know how poor LT depth is.

The other thing about roster stacking is if a player wants a new contract, he can go on the transfer portal now. This undercuts the big name schools from contolling the scholarship world.

How will this affect A. Chavez and Tech's attempt to get her to sign.
@josephterrell28352 күн бұрын
I don't see this as much change at all TBH. Tech has been attracting really good players as walk-ons by leveraging NIL. I am definitely sure Ohio State and Bama have been attracting more than 105 good players to their rosters. But we will need to see the results to truly know. Ultimately feels like you are probably about where you are now. 2nd class citizen but still in the haves.

The SEC, and B10 is like be our backup, dont get paid much, and you'll be a car sellsman the rest of your life after graduation. If you go to the B12 youll start, or play alot, and get paid millions, and have a chance to make the NFL.

As a former Cross Country guy at Tech for Coach Murray and Coach Kittley there is no offense taken. I don’t see Tech cutting XC. Kittley loves having a good 5,000m guy on his track team and you can’t attract a distance guy to only run in the spring. Dollars and cents it is one of your cheapest sports you have. Plus they have made too heavy of an investment in that program along with Track to let it go. We’ve had two women individual titles and one men’s individual title in XC in recent history. Because Tech isn’t bloated with sports I highly doubt any sport will be cut. It’s going to be interesting to see what sports outside of football get scholarship bumps. We need to be grateful we have a lot of rich donors that are bought in. We could be Rice where they have a lot of rich donors that flat don’t care about sports.

Universities priorities are screwed up. Universities exist to educate students in their chosen fields not to have a winning football team at all costs.
@nicolasthecaged49402 күн бұрын
It’s looking more and more like if you want a football team at your university to compete at the highest level you better find a way into the SEC or the Big 10. Because they have more money and they are actively attempting to exclude as many programs as possible from their “premium” product. Sadly, by virtue of their influence they hold sway in government above the little guys. This is still just the beginning of their moves to turn top end college football into a 30-40 team mini-NFL wholly separate from any NCAA oversight.

My top level questions , How will the Collectives resources be limited or changed? How will Revenue Sharing impact NIL? How will be each team’s salary be funded? Does a Scholarship $ value figured into a player’s salary , equally at schools? Will Men’s non revenue sports be more impacted than women’s? I always appreciate your enthusiasm and optimism but why do I feel like we’re seeing the slow death ☠️ for all Collegiate sports? And with the 100M TV Contracts in place didn’t the GAP between the SEC and B10 just get larger?

I feel like last year, we were talking about two guys that would be special if they turn it on. This year, there are 10-12 guys that could be special if they turn it on. Law of averages? Optimism abounds. In my TTU sim only dynasty (so I'm doing recruiting and roster management only), Tech has gone to the playoffs twice, lost the big xii to Utah then beat ksu in year two. Granted, I signed the #4 class for '25, so I don't think that part is coming to fruition...

Back to regular schedule programming. Sack the QB, sack the QB!!!!!! Or TFLs
@slyderkmk67292 күн бұрын
I would put TFL along with sack numbers bc it's essentially the same thing...just tackling someone other than a QB behind the LOS. I like to see TFL as much as I do sacks...but seeing the QB get hit is just a ton better....lol

Surprised we’re not hearing any noise about Isaiah Crawford. Shouldn’t he at least be in the conversation to get rotational minutes replacing Linton, or is he having a tough time adjusting to the college level?

When you started talking about SMU and Jerry Ball, I was reminded of Michael Carter. He was probably the bigger star in the SMU “stable”. Silver medal Olympic shot putter and three time all pro. His career was tarnished by the “Pony Excess” days, but he redeemed himself in the Olympics and NFL.

Sure has been awhile since I have enjoyed watching Tech play on defense. Were building quite a team. Haha strip sacks are sexy. Ive been watching some of our old game replays. When we gang tackle look to strip the ball. When tackling from behind tackle and punch/tomahawk smash the ball at the same time. Haha that beer is cool.

Jerry Ball was a freaking load. That was back when SMU was running their own little NIL program. We all got fooled by that one bowl performance by Cole, that turned out to pretty much be a one off. Let's wait and see what Amier brings this year before we get too excited.

Dan Lanning said before the Oregon game last year that he was impressed and worried about our interior DL and I watched for that at the game & all their runs were tosses outside or screen passes Leach would call a run play. Lanning never tested our DTs. Our ILBs looked really good because of Hutchings and Bradford, they will be missed.
@brycetaylor19803 күн бұрын
Bradford and Hudgins were the unsung heroes, That don't get the credit they deserve. I remember watching an Arkansas game years back. Where everyone and their dog knew they were gonna run it, and we STILL couldn't ever stop it....
