I buy sheeting fabric and use that. It's 2.4m wide (so about 95") and relatively inexpensive for a backing (in South Africa).

Thank you so much for this video! This has helped me put into perspective the varying responses I get from my nieces and nephews when they are presented with their graduation quilts...last year my niece was "underwhelmed" (not gonna lie that stung a bit) and this year my twin nieces were "over the moon" with theirs. Will keep making them and gifting them but will focus on the enjoyment I get during the process and (try to) worry less about the reaction of the recipient...although next years graduate will be a tough one, thinking of maybe having her shop with me to pick some fabrics so she won't be as "underwhelmed" as her sister, lol.

I've been blessed to be able to distribute quilts donated to the Linus Project to teens in residential care. Every single one of those quilts were received with love and appreciation! It's important to know that teens love to wrap themselves up in their quilts and some of those kids are like full size adults! Just an idea for anyone; Linus Project is nation wide and always grateful for donations.

Look at your setting or programming feature. My Quilting Centre’s owner gave me a one on one tutorial and showed me how to change the setting for needle down for my personal feature setting.

How was it moving the long frame supports into your home? I'm worried about maneuvering through or around corners in my house

The frame came in pieces in boxes. I built it in the room it is in now.

I'm new to quilting and only want to do QAYG, have been trying to figure out how to QAYG an existing pattern (that is not QAYG but is in blocks) without changing the pattern's measurements. This might be THE way! So, I'll have blocks with applique on them, and that's the front. Follow pattern instructions for all those first, then add each square one at a time, layering as I go like you did here, quilt it, and then add the next one .... this should be my answer. (The pattern I'm looking at is WallFlower at Missouri Star Quilt, which uses 10" layer cakes for the blocks/applique). I tried asking in a FB group and I got "there's lots of YT videos" and that was it. Everything I saw was "I designed this QAYG pattern....", when what I wanted was to use an existing pattern I like without screwing up measurements or having to add sashing. But, here you are, I found you, and I think I'll practice this a bit. Thank you!

Hope it works for you! There is a part two to this video that is about using this method for quilts with blocks and rows which I imagine is what you are talking about - it’s here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f5uUq8eLuJ7aeJ8.htmlsi=X8TwDr6wbEt0mzJz

I was doing the same today in a lot of the colors - am keen to see how this all plays out. Denim has so many hues so difficult to choose

It does have a lot of hues! And I’ll have to use a mix of blacks or blues whatever I go with.

Hey, Kristen! This sounds like a fabulous collab! I’m already subscribed to both of your channels. I think I learned of his channel from you a while back. I prefer the black denim, because it really makes the colours pop. It would also create a clear break between your sections and Tom’s. I think the inherent texture in the blue denim would muddy the waters. I’m really looking forward to following the progress in this project. Thank you, and stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦

"Goes with" is not the same as Match.... not even close. ))I'm waiting to see what blocks you will choose to sew. Close color nearly match so it looks like only one person made the quilt... or enough different that it coordinates the two workers. Are these 5 colors his ONLY colors for the whole quilt, or just for the one center block? IF whole, the next frames will need more diversity. Does he build on your choices to make his frame "match" or "go with"? Are your frames mostly print vs his solids? Choosing only half the fabric and structures is going to be fun. ))
@ScrapFabricLove11 күн бұрын
Yes I’m pretty sure those are the only colors he is using. I’m not going to do my section in blocks but he is doing his that way. Not sure if he will alter his after he sees mine or not 😂 that will be part of the mystery!

I gave a quilt to a relative for his wedding. The marriage lasted two days and I had no idea what happened to the quilt for about 8 months. I believe he ended up with the quilt but I never heard another word about it. I look at it as every quilt has a story and this is the story of this quilt!
@ScrapFabricLove11 күн бұрын
Gosh! That is quite a story! Wonder where it is now!
