We don't have S5 here in Longquan, so I am no expert in explaining good or bad. but from what I learn, it's really good in toughness.

Very nice. Any chance of a spring monosteel type XVIIIb with a waisted grip around 7.5kg** in the future? **I only use freedom units. I meant something no more that 3.5lbs. which I guess is 1.6ish kg?
@Swordier6 күн бұрын
Yes, Type XVIIIb will be definitely our next project, but to be honest, it haven't occurred to us using waisted, your suggestion will be our design list for sure, and will update when the sword is out. Also, don't you think 7.5kgs will be too heavy? normally with monosteel, with distal taper, it will be around 1.9kgs.

Way to expensive for me and from what I've seen on Google on other site's like Everything Kung-fu and others selling replica monkey king staffs there charging nearly the same price or higher like$6- $700&something 😢. I did find one monkey king staff on ebay that use to be sold on Amazon and it's metal that collapsible for $200&something.

It will be same with regular katana, but when it comes to heavy material, the shock absorb is different, so I would recommend use it for Iaido practice or light material cutting test.

i always fantasizEd about this concept. faster cuts and slashes.
@preparedsurvivalist2245Ай бұрын
I've cut with regular katana, a reverse blade like this, and straight ninjato. It's all about technique and sharpness, and the blade curvature or lack thereof actually doesn't matter a whole lot...as you see here. That looks like a great sword, and in T10, WOW!

Thanks for sharing this with us, yes, couldn't agree more!

Very similar to a real sword design called a falx, from ancient Dacia
@SwordierАй бұрын
Just dig into the research online, very interesting. it somehow reminds me the Trojan horse war. Clever design.
@danrosenthal923118 күн бұрын
Not all that similar; the early Falx has a much, much more pronounced curve, and was wielded more like a polearm for it's hooking capability; the later Falx was smaller and the curve starts much further down and increased drastically towards the end, in a manner much more akin to some oversized machetes.

Should I get a 9260 spring steel katana, a T10 steel, or a 1095 high carbon steel that’s clay tempered and folded ?? Very stuck right now ! Any advice would help! Looking for a battle ready katana, that’s durable and holds and edge !

@@Swordier I apologize for the grumpiness (not your fault). However, I do realize I forgot to light the bag holding the poo on fire. As in Iaiado, good form is important. Why
@RovingPunsterАй бұрын
@@lornemcneil Dont flatter yourself. You were completely irrelevant to my OP, and werent noticed til later. Check the date/time stamps. As for Mr. Swordier, I bear him no malice. I was simply being extremely blunt in my assessment of the vid in question. Case in point: the "shit or shineola" reference was intended to be a blunt but extremely clever (and apt) call out to the movie "The Jerk" where the main char was being given life advice, including (drum roll) APPRAISING things to distinguish between junk and non-junk. The reference apparently went overhead and caused offense (and an overt reference to actual sh1t, instead of my metaphorical one) and instead of garnering a polite OOOF (as if from an imaginary bokken strike) and maybe a hint of me culpa. Not everyone is able to handle blunt critcism with some measure of grace and aplomb, just like students of iaiado are often unable to handle a brisk impact with grace and stoicism, esp if it was the result of their leaving themselves open for said blow. Been there, done that, both given and (on occasion) received. I find no enjoyment in having to explain myself. If you act like a boor or a dullard, you should expect to get treated as such. Anyway, ive yet to see anything interesting or informative here, so im out. Sheesh.

The toughness and edge retention on that manganese steel is seriously impressive. There aren't many blades available sharp enough to go through wooden boards like that, much less without any discernable edge damage.
