General store owner and Loving it. I have ADHD and my mind is a constant swirl of creative ideas. To niche down never made sense for me because I know I would lose interest quickly in one niche or two and let my store slide. It works so much better for me to have a general store where I am free to design in a bunch of places and a bunch of products. I opened on February 1st of this year and 5 months later I'm still at it every single day. All day. I'm addicted! Thank you for saying it was a valid way to do things. There is too much Etsy snobbery on here. Love that you are so beautiful. Upbeat ❤️ and informative. 200 sales btw.. not thousands but not zero either lol 🎉

Hey there! I haven't actually thought about that before! I definitely have some single shirt listings that do well on ads but I will start paying attention about how many I turn off! I also have group listings that I have to turn off all the time becaue they lose me so much money! But off the top of my head I would say I have a bigger percentage of well performing group listings than I do single shirts. Great question!

And THANK YOU for not perpetuating the toxic myth that you have to copy other designers in order to make money on Etsy! It’s so disheartening when people steal your original designs! Thank you for encouraging originality and out of the box thinking! Right now someone is selling my original design and advertising it all over FB and Instagram WITH MY WATERMARK and I have no idea how to stop it because they’re selling it on their website. 🙃 Thank you again for all that you do and for encouraging creativity and originality! ❤

I use Stan store for that stuff and they make it really easy for me to just email you all at once! And I am so glad you enjoyed this design video! And I know that is so frustrating! Design hack? I think not. Hacks are supposed to make things easier, all you did was waste about 6 hourd making a video whete the capybara looked horrible. The sheet wasnt even on one with the ghost face way off to the side.

I have been working hard on adding listings and your videos are so helpful.. by chance do you take a look at shops and offer advice? I am really trying to put the effort and time in my shop and just recently am doing a paid subscription to everbee and work on my SEO - I have made some sales, but they are not consistent.. Definitely going to try that double listing with the SEO to see if one outperforms the other.. also I have a quick question for the tags. If you can clarify, I thought we were trying to look for hi search competition tags… but I see many have super high competition so how would people find my listing out of 100,000?? I thought it was better to look under like 10,000??

Shawna,thank you for the education, as it is very clear. I am trying new product line on my older shop, so starting fresh, and last 7 days i decided to try running ads, first 25 dollars, then when it was available i hit with 100 dollars a day just to see what would happen. 2 of my listings was taken off, one afte 86 clicks and 4400 plus views on one listing, it spend over 28 dollars, 1 sale only, when checked if anything was in cart was nothing, so it ranked pretty high but very small return. I turned that off. Other doing similar but a few more sale, still not covering what spend ,17K views, 410 clicks, 4 orders 70$ revenue, 120$ spend. 7 days ads run??? 320 key words it was found for. i turned bunch off, but it continues spend crazy, i turned it off. any suggestion on this situation? i did get more favorites, and it seamed stop after turning it off. also over 20 in shopping cart. What to do next? please advise if you can.Thank you

If you can't get it profitable after turning key phrases off than turn the ad off. I would also double down in those niches. You are being found and gaining traction in the algorithym... feed it more and play around with elements and fonts of your original design. People are clicking on them for a reason. Hey there! I am so glad you enjoyed this one! So I have thousands of products in my expired folder... More of my listings are expired than active! After 8 to 12 months I usually just let them expire. So that is after 2 or 3 times of renewing with no sales. Something that used to do well but doesn't now... I usually keep around. Anything that started doing well, you will have wanted to double down on. This often keeps your original seller selling and your new designs will replace the old ones in sales volumes as you continue to create trendy designs that are popular right now in that niche! Hope this helps!

One question regarding the trademark thing. i remember you mentioned that we should avoid using disney thing for our design, but many seller still use it, some just the mickey ear shape for the design, is that allowed? Also, i saw lots of etsy seller include gnome into the holiday shirt design, but uspto says the word "gnome" is trademarked. i'm not sure if the gnome graphic can be used in our design?? thanks

Hey there OktoKids! So I am no lawyer, but I can tell you my bet understanding and what I am comfortable with! First, if the word gnome is trademarked that would not effect our using gnome clipart. Second, I just took a peek and didn't see gnome trademarked for most of the products we would be printing on. I saw curtains which included towels so maybe if I were doing towels I would be more careful. Third, even if it were trademarked for clothing I would personally still feel comfortable using gnome clipart and I would also feel comfortable using the word gnome as part of a larger phrase like Gnome for the holidays as long as that phrase wasn't trademarked. That is just me... the word "Lucky" is also trademarked and sense this is another common word I wouldn't just put Lucky on a shirt, but I am comfortable putting something like Lucky Mama on a shirt as long as that phrase is not trademarked. Definitely do your research so you know you are making the best decision possible! Again, I am no lawyer, but this is how I handle this. Hope this helps! PS... I don't mess with Mickey... or his ears! LOL
