Man we ended up so lucky. No one was prepared for that storm. If it would have had 5-10 more hours this would have been a Cat 3 system and would have been Catastrophic. Our meteorologist don’t do anything but read off a script and follow the nhc cone and nothing else. They did not take this serious enough. Lesson Learned I guarantee.

how do we find Levi's channel? I used to hang on weather underground chat.

I will never understand why anyone in the path ever stays. Oh wait, maybe it's because no one really knew it was headed to Houston due to NHC . I love your coverage Mike. Thanks so much. The rain brings the wind down lower, 90 MPH sustained and that's from 5 different experienced chasers from the are you were in ,Mike. I become more and more discouraged by the NHC with each storm. The last time they did a good job was Katrina, and no one that mattered in N>O> listened to them.

Holy cow I just said this exact thing. Our meteorologist only read off the nhc script. It’s disgusting. If this system had 5-10 more hours it would have been a Cat 3 and been catastrophic. We got so lucky. That’s why I wish more people would follow Something or someone other than the local news. They did not have anyone prepared for that system. I’m in Alvin btw. It was brutal.

I wonder about the building codes there as compared to the Outer Banks. Also, doesn't seem like there are any protective dunes.

I wonder if the beach house in Sargent our parents rented all through the 70s is still standing. It was across street from ICW and backed up to a canal facing Gulf. Can't remember street name. Thoughts and Prayers for all the people of Sargent and EVERYONE Beryl effected 🙏 The HUGE tree in our backyard lost huge branches and crushed my Granddaughters swing set and part of fence. When I was taking video I had to stand at bk door by covered patio because being surrounded by so many trees I was so scared I would get knocked in the head. 😂 Trees definitely got pruned by Beryl. Thankfully no roof damage and we're all good 🙏Happy trails

Absolutely the wildest Cat 1 I've ever been through! The destruction from my experience and my area I would almost say it was worse than Ike.. Hurricane Ike surge was insane and deadly, but w Beryl the SUSTAINED winds for hours upon hours not only coastal but far inland along with the crazy rain it brought w it, idk how to explain it, just a whole other level of a Cat 1. Beryl in a league of its own. I guess really when it's all said and done there's really no comparison of hurricanes. So many different factors (conditions) play into the formation, strength and outcomes of a hurricane. Just wild! Thanks for your coverage and all your updates and information. I follow you and followed Beryl since it was a wave off the Africa coast. Mentally exhausting as you said. SE Houston here and still no power. Been out since between 4:30 AM and 5 AM yesterday morning . To be expected. Definitely Spotty service now too.. I just made coffee by boiling water (gas stove) and pouring it over the coffee in filter in coffee maker 👍i I'm old school and was taught and learned how to rough it when necessary, I don't do Starbucks or go out and buy coffee etc... also meat in freezer today w be cooked making multiple meals, I don't waste however fridge stuff is getting trashed today. 😢 Sucks. Until next time 🙏

Wow I understand exactly. I’m in Alvin so I was about 30 miles on the east side of landfall. I’ve been in Texas my entire life and have rode out all the Major hurricanes that have hit this area. This was by far one of the strongest I’ve been in. The winds were relentless. Some of the gusts were so strong I thought was gonna peel my roof off. There is absolutely no way this should have been a cat one. It was stronger than Ike, Harvey, Rita ect. Might be time for the Nhc to work on the classifications of strength outta hurricanes.
