To young to know what was going on around them. The Bay City Rollers were worked to death by Paton and the record company. They didnt have the time or the energy to realise they were being robbed blind. Its sad they never got the money they worked so hard for.

Saw him many times in the 70s around manchester ,one of the greatest live performers ever ,always gave a great show ,i once went to the bar in the willows at salford at the end of the night and del was stood there getting a drink ,i pulled out my pretend guitar and started singing the answer to everything to him and asked him why he didnt play it that night, He stopped me there and then said whats your name,i said cliff and he shook my hand and said pleased to meet you cliff ,he said keep practicing your guitar and singing cliff ,i enjoyed that ,i then told him me and my mates have seen you loads of times del,he said you must be f*****g daft and laughed ,my mates all came to the bar and del said i need to go now ,,i think he enjoyed taking to me and my imaginary guitar as much as i loved talking to him Im 74 now and del shannon is one of the very few people who could get me to leave my bed if he was still performing ,he was great

Drug addiction is a deadly thing and it’s such a shame that it kills peoples creativity. Look at all the great badge. I don’t even have to name them because you know who they are where they’re output with them much greater and much better. Have they not been hooked on heroin or cocaine, just killed the music industry. Think of what could have been if drugs were not involved…. I’m not preaching… I’ve had a problem myself for years and I’m sure I would do better if I didnt

Come, taste of the band was the very first album that I bought with my own money.. I bought it in a mall in Louisville Kentucky because it looked cool and it had a wine glass with faces in it on the cover. That’s the only reason.. I was 11 years old That album made me beg my parents for a guitar and I am a lifelong musician because of that album and because of Tommy Bolin..and Richie Blackmore and I even got to meet Deep purple down in Florida years later in the early 90s in my opinion, the greatest guitar players look at Tommy’s body of work and he died when it was 25 so a six year. He accomplished an amazing amount of work in a six or seven year period from being a teenager to passing away at 25 years old…. if you’ve never heard of him dig deep here on KZfaq there’s plenty of great recordings. He is an awesome guitar player with a style all his own

Sorely missed. Playing the Blues and vocalizing seriously pithy observations in a coffee shop in Heaven--without an adequate sized Tip Jar. Cheers Mr. B. (without the single malt.)
