It depends on the power draw. As long as it’s under 2000W you should be good to go. The Delta Pro larger unit can put put up to 3600W, that would probably be better for heating.

Your setup is dangerous and illegal. You don’t have an interlock kit to keep you from accidentally leaving the main on when you backfeed into the outlet. I’m not an expert on suicide cables, but it’s dangerous and may also be illegal.

Dude, I hope you have good insurance. When main power goes out, you can power your house as you have said. But you fail to mention that your unit is not only powering your own home but is back feeding through the power lines to your home. Therefore your unit might electrocute any lineman who thinks the line is safe and touches the line to your neighborhood. Your unit could kill the power company guy who is trying to restore your power. Please do not use a suicide plug. It's dangerous to the repair crew! Think outside the box bro. It's not just about you and your home. Your unit is feeding back through the power line that feeds your home. Dah!
@kevinbarnes2806
@kevinbarnes2806 Жыл бұрын
yeah, its not a safe way to do it but he turned off the main breaker, so it is not feeding back to the power lines like you have said. It's probably fine if he's the only one in the house, but I would not recommend this method. There are a lot safer ways to do this yes. but you are overexaggerating about killing the line man. now if he forgets to switch the breaker, well this is a bad story.. that's why I don't recommend this method as people forget shit all the time and when you do it could be a bad outcome

@RAMSEYBOYD

Please please dont this for a million different reasons!!!! Will it work? Yes! Can you potentially kill yourself or others? Yes! This idea is just way to risky and you could melt the wires inside your walls and cause a fire. Remember that circuit breakers are designed to protect the wires inside your home. Backfeeding through a 20 amp breaker will either pop it and limit your entire feed at 2400 watts or not pop with some recalled panels and just burn you house down. But the many risks are just not worth it.

That cable is called a suicide cable for a reason: the exposed plug is live when the other end is plugged into the Delta Max. If you touch it, it will kill you. You need to install a generator inlet plug and a proper disconnect in the panel so you can't backed the grid or the inlet plug accidentally.

You clearly missed the several mentions about him saying to turn off the main breaker…. You can’t back feed the grid when that’s off. Either way not that I’m saying it’s ok, but trust me, a lineman is not working on a power line assuming that everyone that line is serving is properly connected to the grid and if they are assuming that then they won’t be a lineman for very long.
