Just know that the second you set foot on your first job the only time school is brought up is to vent and complain. No one is comparing grades or talking about how many times it took to get a skill or class. You all start the same and grow together 🩷

I just stumbled on this video and I want to tell you it'll be ok. You only "fail" if you give up or quit! I'm a Registered Nurse, newly graduated, and I failed a whole Med Surg class. I watched my entire friend group pass and walk to stage, take their NCLEX and it really felt like I had failed, but I kept going. Here I am, almost a year later working at a RN myself! You are your worst critic, keep in mind your end goal, it'll be worth it in the end. Nursing school sucks, but one day you'll be looking 'back' on it!
New subscriber here, I really enjoy just listening to you. We all somehow relate to something and need that support. Stay strong❤

Arizona Community Foundation was where I had the most luck. I am located in Arizona, but from my research most states have a _____ Community Foundation where you can apply for scholarships.

Hey there! Just wanted to let you know the circumstances of one of your newer subscribers. I am male 61 years old currently and over the road truck driver after a 30 year corporate career long story short I have been a volunteer EMT in the past and decided it was time to do something really meaningful. I took all my prerequisites while driving the truck all over the country. I am applying to schools in Boston and Baltimore. I start a ABSN program summer of 24. Looking forward to following your journey to prepare me for mine.

I am curious in what is the passing score on exam, quizzes and assignments in your cohort?
@vickiejayy411410 ай бұрын
Passing score in my cohort is a minimum of 76%. So we have to earn a minimum of 76% on all of our proctored exams in order to pass the block.
@Ava-bn2nh10 ай бұрын
@@vickiejayy4114 that makes me feel better. I've seen a video of a nursing student on TikTok that she got kicked out of the class and needs to retake it again that’s why she was 3 months behind her graduation because she got a score of 95 and not 100.😬sounds like so high expectations. I'm glad in reality the passing score is very much attainable.
@landrypartyof510 ай бұрын
Are you kidding me!!!! You are doing great!!! It’s so super scary to start learning how to be a PCA/CNA and your in nursing school. Don’t let that nurse fool you..she was probably a nervous wreck her first day too. I was a CNA for 7 years before I was a LPN for 11 years and now I’m going back to school for my RN. I’m so nervous even with all that experience. You are encouraging me that we all start somewhere and it’s ok to feel overwhelmed. At least we are doing and bettering our families lives. The mom guilt for sure is so hard… try to remind yourself in those hard times how worth it, it all will be. I try to picture for example … paying my son’s tuition in full and not thinking twice vs working 6 days a week to pay it off. Just little motivations or “when I’m an RN I can work 3 12’s and be done for the week! Loooove watching your journey! You helping me so much!
@vickiejayy411410 ай бұрын
Omg thank you for your kind words. Yes exactly I agree it is all to better our families lives! It's so easy to get caught up in our own heads, and think we're damaging them or they're gonna remember this one day forever but it's not likely lol I'm so glad I can be of any help at all & I'm wishing you tons of success on your journey! <3
@briannaburrell084011 ай бұрын
Honestly that nurse was just being rude. In no way should you be pushed into doing anything youre not trained to do that is why you are training its for your safety as well as the patient
@vickiejayy411410 ай бұрын
Agreed, thank you so much. It's gotten a lot better & luckily I have not been placed with that nurse again. I let my preceptor know what happened, and she took it to management.

Agree with the clipboard during clinical. When you’re working as a nurse and taking report on 6-7 patients I’d recommend some form of clipboard to write on and then fold up the paper with your report on it. Also some things I’d add that were always helpful. On your name badge get a sharpie mini with the key ring on it to clip to your badge for initialing dressings and iv tubing. I used mine constantly.
@vickiejayy411411 ай бұрын

if anyone is looking for a good clinical shoe if your school doesn’t allow clogs i recommend the Sketchers D’lites. ik they’re kinda grandma shoes but there’s a reason- they’re so comfy. i’ve injured my back and knees and also have flat feet, but these don’t even hurt my feet after a 12 hour shift. game changer also i personally think a separate clinical bag is great if you are anxiety prone and forgetful. switching bags makes me feel like i’m always forgetting to put my clinical stuff in my bag and i commute 1.5 hours to my clinical site so turning around isn’t an option. personal pref ofc tho!
@vickiejayy411411 ай бұрын
I will definitely look at those! If people call them grandma shoes they're probably 10/10 for nursing 😂 Yes absolutely! Whatever works best for you girl! 1.5 hour commute I would probably keep a suitcase in the car with me just in case lol
