@@sophieradford Hi Sophie, good to hear from you, so pleased you are doing well! I am doing great too thanks, I started on HRT a couple of months ago and it’s made such a difference. I feel like myself again and no more anxiety or massive dips at certain times in my cycle. I’ve been thinking that I could try coming off the Sertraline at some point in the future, the trouble is I sleep so well on it so that does make me a bit reluctant. Will have to ponder on that... Hi Sophie. Just popped in and saw your video. Congratulations on stepping down. I also made a similar decision after experiencing emotional blunting and tiredness on 100mg. I went back down to 75mg doe a couple of months, then 50mg for 3 moths. Now I'm hovering around 37.5mg (2 and a half 25mg tablets) every night. Looking to reduce further next month. I'm being supported by my GP and have also been receiving therapy. Overall, I feel OK and am pleased at how this is working out for me. Good luck.

Hi Sophie! So nice to hear an update from you. It sounds like things are going really well which I am pleased to hear. Dealing with anxiety is definitely a several pronged approach isn’t it. Working on one’s self, healing trauma and addressing unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns is so important and I think actually more important than taking the medication. I hope you are able to come off completely. It resonated with me when you said about all the good connections that you have in life etc and the fear that the good things could be lost. I have that feeling/thought too. I guess that’s the bravery, keeping going and trusting despite that uncertainty. Thank you for your lovely encouragement in your last message. I am now back on 50mg! The 100 really didn’t suit me, I felt wired all the time and it really disturbed my sleep. I managed 4 days then weaned myself off. I’m still up and down depending on where I am in my cycle but I think I am getting a bit better at weathering the storm and not panicking so much as I know it’s not permanent. I’d love to come off completely one day again but I think I will stay as I am at least till the hormone stuff gets sorted. All the best and if we don’t hear from you before, have a wonderful Christmas xx

Thank you! That's so kind. I am starting now taking 25 mg every other day so we will see how that goes but I will definitely be nervous stopping completely. I completely agree though that while Zoloft/Sertraline can be so useful when you need a little extra help, it's not the only solution and there are so many ways to minimize anxiety. I hope the 50 mg suits you better and you feel well too. Have a lovely December and please do let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to hear from me on. x

I am so glad you posted this now! I can tell you are doing very well. My situation is so similar to yours. So I have been on zoloft for about 2 1/2 years now and I have been all the way up to 200mg, 150mg. The past couple months I have just been feeling so numb so i decided to drop down to 50mg for a while. 10 days ago I dropped down to 25mg and a few days ago I just stopped! I have gotten to the point where I just want to feel again. Even if they are bad feelings, I still just want to feel again.....I have had a little withdrawal in terms of I feel a little light headed/dizzy but that's about it.....I feel exactly now what you are saying. I am doing great and I feel excited about life again. Like you said that feeling when you wake up in a new city and just want to explore. I feel that excitement again in the pit of my stomach. I don't feel numb anymore. I am feeling really good actually. It's kind of like that nervous but good excitement. Please keep us updated on your journey!

It's a good dilemma to have, I've now been on SSRIs for a few months and tracking well, probably won't think about reducing dosage for another few months at least but if my anxiety stays the same I'm also thinking of going on half the dosage for a while then considering going off. Hard to know the right answer, if your anxiety has stayed low while reducing the dose that's a great sign. All the best.

Hi Sophie! Nice to hear an update from you. I was wondering yesterday how you were doing funnily enough. I have started on 100 mg now on the advice of my doctor as my anxiety has really increased. I think I said to you before but I actually think it’s peri menopause and because the change in hormones hasn’t shown up on the blood test, they can’t put me on HRT. My GP is going to do further investigations but suggesting upping my dose to help with the anxiety. I wish you well with tapering off. I can’t believe last year I had done the same and now am on 100! It just goes to show that mental health is such a fluid thing and always changing. I may look into your hypnotherapist, he sounds great! I am also considering trying acupuncture. All the best and look forward to hearing how you get on x

That sounds quite similar to me - I am being a lot more intentional about keeping my anxiety at bay but I do feel ok! Nice to see you again Sophie 😊 Looks so peaceful where you are! So pleased to hear you haven’t had any major side effects from dropping your dose. Sounds very sensible sticking at 50mg for now. I was so positive when I came off completely and was absolutely fine for a while but after a few months I gradually realised I didn’t feel right and that I needed it again. I feel happy being on 50 as it’s a fairly low dose and as you said, with all the self care, therapy etc keeps me ticking over and apart from the odd spike, keeps the anxiety at bay. Hope it continues to work well for you. Looking forward to another update soon. Safe journey! x

It was so lovely thank you - I would recommend it if you’re looking for a relaxing few days by the sea. Yep, I’m happy with 50 mg for now - maybe forever! When I discussed coming off it altogether with my GP he said as I’ve got a lot going on with work and family commitments etc (don’t we all) it was sensible to stay at 50 mg for now. When you came off it was it just a gradual realisation that you weren’t feeling so well? It would be helpful to know any warning signs to look out for! X
@rach94010 ай бұрын
@@sophieradford Thanks for the recommendation! Always nice to hear about new places to go. So pleased you had a great time. Your GP sounds really good and clued up on mental health, which in my experience not every GP is! So looking back, I would say my mood had very gradually dropped as we moved into winter last year. I became very ‘in my head’ overthinking, going down rabbit holes with negative thoughts and worry and catastrophising. My sleep was then affected as I had too much cortisol going round my body, which then made the anxiety worse. I just didn’t feel myself at all. That was the clincher for calling the doctor in the new year and going back on. Like you, I think I may stay on 50 forever after that experience. I sleep so well on them thankfully too and feel much more myself. I hope you feel good on them in the coming weeks and months! I really appreciate this community of people going through similar things, so thank you as always for sharing your experience with us all! x

Just wanted to leave a quick comment as I've watched through your videos as I've just started on an SSRI (Paroxetine - an older fashioned SSRI that doesn't get prescribed as much anymore but I had taken it in the past once before). The past month my life has changed and I had two severe anxiety attacks sort of out of nowhere so really needed to start medication to bring my anxiety down as I could barely function. These videos really help in seeing someone else on the journey of taking medication. I'm on Day 10 and so far so good, my anxiety is WAY lower than where it was even a 4-5 days ago. Look forward to seeing more of your video updates.

Thank you so much for your comment - I’m really pleased to hear you’ve found my videos helpful so far and that your anxiety is on the way down. I’ve been on Sertraline/Zoloft for over a year now and it’s been incredibly helpful. So much so that I’m now reducing my dose and am now on 50 mg a day rather than 100 mg a day (video to come on this very soon). Good luck and best wishes!

@@sophieradford Thanks for your reply. I remember you mentioned you started taking it because you were having more and more 6-7 anxiety level days. It was similar with me except I didn't do anything about it and eventually it built up into 'anxiety attacks' which are like panic attacks that last for a week (for me) - couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, haven't been at work since (it was mainly brought about from work stress - I work in Finance). I am glad you did something about it when you started feeling anxiety build, because it probably would have continued building into something a lot worse, so it's great to see you doing well and I'm confident I'm now on a similar path even though I've only been on an SSRI less than 2 weeks - I already feel calmer and more functional and hopefully will get better from here. Looking forward to your future updates.

I started with 50mg, and went to 150mg in 5 weeks or so. But the same day I was taken to the hospital with AF. I blamed Sertraline for that, and went back to 50mg for 3 years or so. My panic attacks didn't come back, but my doctor advised me to keep using it. I read a lot about redrawal and decided to stop. Did not take any advice but decided to do that very slowly, in two years. Had no withdrawal effects at all, and no panic attacks. Stayed on about 10mg a day for a few months, and stopped 1 week before a 3 week holiday with no stress factors. Did not have any panic attacks during 3 years, but 2 months they came back. To me clearly related to work stress, as 10 years ago. So advice: slowly, very slowly take less, just take a month between every step and maybe don't stop completely; it may still work at 10 or 20mg a day. Depends on your metabolism.
