Claire, you were so patient, kind, and gracious. In the beginning, I didn’t appreciate them speaking over you and interrupting you. It also sounded like they made excuses when you used very real world examples like when you’re purchasing from your mechanic. It felt like the negative experience with that one designer seemed to have clouded their perspective and made them negative towards the industry and other interior designers. However, after listening further, they became more calm and you start to hear their heart, compassion, and care. I still don’t like them interrupting and talking over you, but overall it was a good episode!

I am pursuing a course of interior and landscape design (degree level) and i find it necessary for our young people. Am now planning to open a training school for interior and landscape design.

Hi! I just found your channel today, you bring out really good content and I wanted to let you know that. I'm also an Interior Designer and to answer your question in the video, my number one concern is literally bringing out the marketing aspect so that we can get more incoming customers. I am burnt out and have tons of to do list that I know I can be outsourcing, but my worry is that I won't be able to keep my hires for too long if I don't have enough customers.

Managed to check this point with a possible high-paying client few weeks back, but he didn't like the fact that I asked for a deposit/ consultation fee. I guess some clients are just looking for a free consultation, and that makes this biz difficult.

I’ve worked for showrooms 10+ years. I caution to be careful bc most don’t provide the needed support staff or labor to finish out the jobs properly. More specifically, kitchen and bath designers are expected to do way more than what’s listed in their job description. Then you find yourself wearing many other hats and burnt out for $36k/annually. Been there, done that. I’m happy to have gone out on my own and make my own schedule.
