I'm currently 15, in hopes to get a PPL or some sort of license when I'm older because I really love aviation and want to fly. I love watching these videos to see how you guys do your things at high altitudes. I actually did talk to a PC12 pilot at Alaska Seaplanes the other week, gave me some info of what he did to get to his position. Great content.

Thank you! I really really appreciate your comment. Can’t express how much I appreciate it in fact. If flying is something you know you want to do I recommend at least knocking out your private pilot certificate early before life gets complicated (and more expensive). I started taking lessons when I was 14 years old and ended up soloing on my 16th birthday and getting my license at 17. If you can find a way to bring in some extra money and spend that on flying that’s a great way to go about it. Also, you could go to community college and knock out a bunch of electives and head off to an aviation university like the University of North Dakota to get the remainder of your ratings and a college degree if you are interested in it as a career. Keep it up and I definitely recommend getting started. If you think it’s something you might like to do!

Oh, my. So many memories. The last 5 years of my airline career were spent flying 757s and 777s from the Mainland to the 4 major Hawaiian islands. Your “Old School” plotting chart was done on each of my 200+ crossings. NEVER get complacent about what you are actually doing. I only made one oceanic turn back out of all those flights. We departed Maui for Phoenix and diverted to HNL. The 777 had CPDLC, so no position reports once established.

@@johnkluenker I used it for a few months, but finally gave it up. Only helped when I was recreating an exact route, especially a DP or STAR that X-Plane doesn’t have in its database, or associated waypoints. On the Citation I could create coordinate waypoints to get around it. After supporting the initial learning process and familiarizing myself with the product, the cost and value of that level of realism isn’t worth it.

I use the NFlight Cam cable. Works pretty well, but you have to make sure that it is actually connected. I now have mine wrapped with tape to make sure the connection doesn’t back out. It’s pretty frustrating when you record a full day of flying and realize that none of the cockpit audio actually got recorded! I have shelved a lot of projects because of that.

Hey quick question, is there a lot of difference between your old x to the newer x, can the old one with winglets can climb direct to FL 430,
@johnkluenker
@johnkluenker 19 күн бұрын
Avionics wise, there is a huge difference between a legacy X and the X plus. The X plus is a little longer by 15 inches and it has slightly better performance but not very noticeable, honestly. A legacy X with winglets (like ours) will climb directly to 45,000 feet departing at maximum gross takeoff weight, as long as it’s a standard day and not too hot. They are fantastic airplanes!
@nimain9964
@nimain9964 19 күн бұрын
Thanks, I saw you flying an early S/N and a later S/N, both legacy, the early S/N prior 172 with the C engine and winglets will climb straight to 45, sorry for all the questions I fly a 604 and my boss may want to add a Citationx.
@johnkluenker
@johnkluenker 19 күн бұрын
That’s correct. Our serial number is 81. But we have done the winglet mod and the elite upgrade. It will indeed go straight to 45,000 at max weight as long as the temperature is at standard.
@johnkluenker
@johnkluenker 14 күн бұрын
No need to apologize! That’s interesting. I am flying as a contract pilot occasionally for a family that switched to a Citation X from a 604 I believe. It will definitely feel cramped compared to the 604 but at least you get the speed. I need to clarify that the X+ is indeed noticeably faster at the higher altitudes like 450 and above.
