You can have an uninteresting, basic stage set but the minute you have Jonas Kaufmann amongst it, the whole stage suddenly becomes alive. What a magnificent voice that man has got. Anyone who can listen to him in this clip and not be moved by it must be emotionally dead. I think he carried Sonya Yoncheva through a very difficult scene and, on the whole, she sounds beautiful.

Absolument magistral. Il n’y a pas la moindre faiblesse ni dans sa voix ni dans l’interprétation artistique. Une bombe pour les spectateurs qui ont eu le bonheur d’y être.

Shoes too big for Elina. A singer has to be also intelligent to know which roles to sing… but of course all want the big roles, nobody seem to remember the lighter roles

Resulta gracioso como para las coloraturas ha usado prácticamente el mismo recurso vocal que cuando canta la romanza de Carceleras de Las Hijas del Zebedeo de Chapí. La dramatización un poco vulgar, aunque supongo que no es iniciativa de Elina, sino del director de escena. Tuvo que ser un calvario actuar con esos trajes y decorados tan fuera de época y de estilo, que ni siquiera hacen mucha justicia al físico de Elina Garanca y de Sonia Yoncheva, que tienen buena percha.

Is she really a mezzo? She goes soooo high! How is it that mezzo are singing high B, when that's supposedly the realm of sopranos? This is a general question.

mezzos can go up to high C too! it's just less accesible than a soprano's which means it's harder to pull it off and make it sound good. elina's top is a bit constricted though

Escenografías y vestuarios anacrónicos para libretos basados en hechos históricos y personajes reales, pobre Elina que no parece una noble del siglo XVI y tiene que hacer ver que lo es cantando porque nada más lo indica 😖😖😖

Soprano . Vocalità gonfiata . Canto moderno che può impressionare solo gli intenditori poco preparati nella materia. Registro acuto e vocalità simili e quelli della Netrebko … no comment. PS Alla fine aspetto la versione senza microfono 🎤… il vecchio

@@gm2709 Questa è la voce del soprano drammatico, e ancora . Accanto ai mezzosoprani che facevano parte del passato glorioso La Garanca sembra a uno soprano lirico pieno gonfiato. Il medium e la voce di petto poco convincenti . Se mi ricordo bene Eboli la interpretavano anche i contralti veri, da anni spariti dalla circolazione. O tempora o mores … il vecchio

Très loin de la version avec Anja Harteros. Yontcheva n'a pas la voix qui convient pour cet opéra, (et d'autres) trop de vibrato qui frise parfois le chevrotement. Heureusement que JK sauve la mise. De plus une MES minimaliste qui détonne ...

C'est comme si on ne supportait pas d'avoir l'image de deux hommes qui se disent qu'ils mourront en s'aimant, et a mis, alors, le visage de la femme, belle, charnelle, comme vivante. Decision du directeur, mais aussi, influence des moyens techniques: photo/video.

Énorme ! Fabuleux. Mais la version en français de cette section est très très différente de celle en italien, plus connue. Ça doit être énorme aussi de l'apprendre par coeur connaissant & chantant +souvent l'autre. Tout à vos honneurs, 💎 chanteurs & chanteuses !
