Technically I was playing on the 1.4 update, but in one Grand Prix i managed to make it all the way to the victory podium, with the Blue Falcon, I'm not even that good at the game typically. 😂

Stingray top speed should be 500kmh, boost mechanics should go back to one per lap. 😉

Back again, I was wondering if you had an idea of how it is the bots use their speed hack. Nearly every GP I play there is a Golden Fox or Blue Falcon that is clearly a bot that wins 1st every race. They do the same thing where if you hit them, then end up in front of you. Except you don't even have to hit them. I just played a Mirror Knight League and I was front running with Golden Fox. However, keeping the exact same lines and optimal boost patterns without hitting anything, the bot still zooms ahead of me, even on the first race where there is no way they could have gotten a KO for more energy since they front ran with me the whole time. I find this is extremely noticeable at the start of races where, despite me getting a perfect start boost with Fox, holding down the accelerator and hitting all boost panels, it just seems that their boost lasts longer from the panels. Even when I pass them from behind at the start and no other vehicle is close, they immediately pass me from a boostpad even though I hit it too and was in front of them. Its really disheartening that I will probably never win a GP, not on skill alone at least. The winner is predetermined most of the time. It was especially egregious on Mirror Silence where the bot would hit a wall on a turn they failed but still jump ahead and despite hitting the walls a lot every lap and in Golden Fox, they still had all their boosts. I'm really not sure what to do about this.

I am not hateful to this guy but most Nintendo games don’t have much updates and allthough I do agree about the performance issues on Nintendo games it dosnt mean you can’t have fun in this game Most games cost more then f zero 99 as for its a free game meaning you can download it anytime because of this it makes the game easier to keep running because if this game cost moeny then the game will for sure be dead But right now this game will not die anytime soon because it’s free

Hey I just wanted to say, thanks for replying to my earlier comment and also I didn't mean to come off as an ass (if I did at all). I've just been very upset for years over a variety of Nintendo games that end up like this. It looks polished and awesome and it is for a casual perspective. Then you invest into the game a bit and realize there is a TON of stuff broken, missing, or intentionally left out that just makes you go "Do they even care???" EDIT: TL;DR Yeah I don't mean to saltpost but this is the only video or discussion I've found that address the BS that is combat / collisions in this game

I've been playing this game for about 1.5 months now and I am skill rank S17 but I'm honestly so tired of the blatant cheating from the bot cpus. You can easily tell that they are a bot if they have the default color for that vehicle and their player card has the default blank background, usually with little or no badges. Furthermore, maybe you have noticed this as well, that the bots are on a 'timer' for lack of better words, to complete the course in a given amount of time. Because of this, oftentimes when I bump a bot, even if I full speed grind them into a wall with a spin attack, 9 times out of 10 they will lag teleport around then appear on my opposite side then lag teleport ahead of me. The reason I know they are bots is if you look closely at the muffler of the vehicle whenever they do this, THEY DON'T EVEN USE A BOOST. Even when I am using the Fire Stingray (best top speed) and I'm at full speed and I bump into a Blue Falcon bot, they somehow race ahead of me and by that point I can't afford to boost because of stingray's poor recovery and durability then they cheat me out of a win. At my level of S17 skill, there are very very few players in an average game that are on my level so the rivals are 3/4 bots most of the time. I know this because it will be the same player's name of a real player that follows me to every gamemode I select. I enter a Grandprix? They are there and beat me by 2 seconds. I then go to team battle? They are there on the enemy team and beat me. I enter F-Zero 99 mode? They are there and beat me. I've played random different modes back to back to back with 0 time in between matches outside of loading and have the same 'players' follow me for up to 10 races in a row. It's not a coincidence and it makes me want to quit this shit game. EDIT: Oh, and all my rivals are bots pulled from the top 100 leaderboard, its seriously a pain. I see the same names all the time.

I think you're looking at it wrong. F-Zero 99 was a cultural event not a gaming franchise. The new features were not solid mechanics, they were gimmicks.

i feel like your testing approach would be great to finally solve how exactly do back bumps work, how many pixels forward they bring us, what penalties are involved when we back bump someone else, and how many back bumps would equal a boost. some side collisions might also count as back bumps too. i have been trying to use the mini map to answer this question myself but it is quite cumbersome

The lack of skill-based matchmaking makes sense in the context of 99 players where you want all sorts of skill levels and unpredictability. It doesn't work when it's 80-90% bots.

That's BS. Boost can no longer be used continuously without power :( It was one of my fav features.

I'm sorry, but what in the hell are you talking about at 1:31 for data mining? If you can extract the raw data straight from the game's code, it is the most accurate data you can possibly have about a game, and using such data doesn't invalidate practical testing, it enhances it. I dunno where you pulled "intended values" or that the game will "inactivate" such values from, but that is entirely hogwash. You sound like you're pulling words out of your ass that sound like they mean something, but actually don't in an attempt to justify not using the real game data. If you don't want to use the real values the game uses, just say so and own it. Don't give us this wishy-washy BS. If you actually DO have the game data, I would appreciate if you could post it in the video description so myself and others can look up the game data ourselves if we so choose. Honesty I have no issues with FZero 99s current state. I absolutely love it. I still play regularly and I think they have done a decent job updating it and keeping it fun. All I think they need to do is add new tracks here and there and maybe some new achievements.

When passing a jump pad, each ship should reach its maximum speed. It doesn't make sense for all ships to exceed their maximum speed except the Fire Stingray. Also, since the Fire Stingray has the worst turbo stats, they should at least make it maintain speed better with crashes. A simple crash with a blue bumper has ruined countless Grand Prixes for me.
