This is great! It looks like there’s opportunity for leadership as well as opportunities for technical development. Go Marines! 🇺🇸🫡

Retired Army EOD here (Sr. NCO) who worked closely with the USMC EOD Team in 1993/Mogadishu Somalia before the 10th Mountain came in full force. Doing the door-kicking missions to take out the weapon caches from the warlords kicked our @sses; but they were organised, disciplined, and when you needed extra support it was there. Both hard times and good times,.. none of us wanted the MEU to leave when 10th Mtn arrived.

@mosesrodriguez Hey, are you in the marines btw? I was wondering how I can do what you do. Are you active and can you do it as a reserve?
@rodsvids5 ай бұрын
I was in the Marines until very recently! I made this mini doc while I was still in. I was an active duty Marine which gave me so many awesome opportunities. You can do this job as a reservist but will get many more opportunities to see many amazing things and travel to amazing places as an active duty Marine

Remember, Marine Corps EOD isn't an enlistment option. You screen as a CPL., so if you want to do this, as a Marine, the MOS you want is Aviation Ordnance or Ground Ordnance. That will give 3 or 4 years of being around explosives and in the pubs so you have an advantage. Don't wanna wait, the other services I believe offer EOD as an enlistment option. It's an amazing community, you won't be disappointed.

How would I make a lateral move to EOD as someone who works in intel? And If I've enlisted in intel would that help? Just asking because I think EOD is something I'd want to do in the future.

When we went through the endurance course, we did it in teams and had to go through it with a casualty. The heaviest person on the team played the roll of the casualty. Our stretchers were made of two staffs and our blouses. We did a lot of dragging up hills. I also remember a trench that had mud in it about waist deep; depending on how tall or short you were.

The endurance course is just a portion of NTA/JWT. When I went through, we did land nav (day and night), squad infantry tactics and other fun stuff.

Great portrayal of a combat engineer. This video does a fantastic job of capturing the essence of fighting men working closely together in small tightknit groups to pull off a tactical mission in order to accomplish a strategic victory. Although It's been 41 years since I have served as a combat engineer, and it looks as though there have been modifications since that time, some basic things remain the same. CBEs still get a charge out of blowing things up, and the comradery still remains as deeply felt today as it did back when I served. Great video, America can be proud of these men!
