I'm in China, got this tent OEM from the factory for about 1.5k USD, the cover is a ballache but the carbon fibre doesn't like sunlight so I threw on a UV protection sticker... Its pretty great, but likewise worried about drainage... I got this for a 4 week trip to Western China desert at end of month, so not likely to see rain on this trip...

Different vehicles for different types of off roading. I have a 4Runner and would never do crazy rock crawling in it. I also wouldn’t do a 5 day overlanding trip in a Wrangler

Was up there last week 8/9/24. Road is impassable due to rockslide on the rear side of where the truck was parked. Looks like FS is working their way upwards to clear the road. Great footage and I'll tell you that water is still cold!

It’s like comparing oranges to apples, both are fruits and both are edible. I think it would be fair to compare an entirely stock vehicles vs vehicles with modifications such as lift kits, spacers and larger tires. I own a Jeep Rubicon and for over landing it’s just as fine as a 4Runner (to me) I drove both and didn’t notice that much difference, now, ability to somewhat easily modify my vehicles and a huge aftermarket is a winning factor for me with the Jeep. I mean if you want your Jeep faster and quieter on a highway, don’t put 35’ or 37’ on, especially for overland driving it’s pointless and purely for looks.

I've had a Tacoma, a 4Runner, and a Jeep. Toyota's are great, but if you plan to build up an off-road capable machine, you can't really touch a Jeep. A Rubicon will fit up to a 39-inch tire with a small lift. If you want to go 40 plus you should upgrade the axles. I still have a Land Crusier, and it can do a lot, but for serious off-roading, it's the Jeep. Before you say Toyota's are more reliable, the truth is that a Toyota in more extreme off-road breaks far more. Unfortunately, we can't get the more serious 70 series Land Cruiser here like Australia. Those would be at the top of my list...

All the modding you have to do on it to make it anywhere near a jeep would bring it up in price pretty quick. But that said.. It's still likely cheaper over all but a lot more work. You really need to appreciate that 90s vaporwave look if you want to invest the time into it. I personally think these look sick.
@520overland
@520overland 3 ай бұрын
Well said! It all really depends on what you want to do with it. The forest road system in the US is massive and you could probably cover a large percentage of it in a CRV or any other cross over. However you’ll probably need to replace your suspension at lot sooner. If you want to get into rocks, deeper snow or loose sand than you might be asking to much of one of these. Thanks for watching!

I’ve had it in rain but never out in a good downpour. There are drain holes to let water out but I could see the possibility of them getting overwhelmed in a strong storm. I believe the made the drain holes bigger in the v2 version too so it’s definitely an issue. Thanks for watching!
