After 2020, Kerosine as primary heating became illegal for us Norwegians. People have had to get their tanks and heaters removed and new building typically don't have chimneys. After that is when the energy crisis hit, with 10x power bills etc. Having many alternatives is key, imo.

Hi again! This is the Amazon link for this wick: www.amazon.com/Dyna-Glo-Replacement-Wick-Ignitor-RW16CP/dp/B074845N75 RW16CP is the wick model number for this exact kerosene heater I use in my videos. It comes with a wick AND the ignitor. Even if you don't need the ignitor part right away, its good to have on hand because they always seem to fail at the most inconvenient time. Of course there are other stores that sell this product...Lowe's, Menards, and Tractor Supply. Sorry it's taken so long to respond. Summer is always a busy time of year for us. Hope this info helps! Great video! I have one question: do you have an estimate of the item's weight with the box included? I'm planning to import this item, and while the manual states it weighs 29 pounds, I'm unsure how much weight the packaging adds.

Hi! I'm sorry, I really do not know how to answer this question because I no longer have my original box it came in. I think I would estimate about an additional 5 pounds or so for the packaging (the box it comes in is pretty big). I wish I had a better answer for you, but it's my best guess. If you want something that'll still be around in 10 years or more spend an extra 70 or 80 bucks and get a homeowner model steel or echo. It will last way longer with less problems and you can actually get replacement parts when it breaks. A steel or an echo will last a million times longer than the garbage box. Store brands like Craftsman, Black, Max Murray any of those. They're all they're all. Basically the same weed eater and they're all just disposable. The straight shaft steals and echoes that are the residential model will run you around 220 and they will last 10 plus years easily and if you don't abuse it

@americanbackroadhomestead
@americanbackroadhomestead 2 ай бұрын
Don’t let this trimmer intimidate you, it really is simple to use. Couple tips for you…the premixed 40:1/50:1 ratio two stroke fuel that you can buy at Walmart works awesome (fuel is a slight blue color when you pour it in). You’ll hear of people making their own premix…it’s never the same as what you can get at the store and you can actually ruin the motor quicker. Also, whenever you’re done using the machine or put it in storage, make sure you empty the fuel out of it. Doing that keeps the fuel from eating away at the fuel lines over time and can help make your trimmer last longer. Glad you found my video helpful! Thanks for watching and supporting my channel! Love it! I use it a lot for pallet wood projects. I cut pallet planks, 2x4’s, etc. I do wish the blade that came with it had more teeth on it though so it’s not such a rough cut. I was able to get about a year’s worth of use out of the blade that came with the saw. I’m at the point where I’ve purchased my replacement blade. That’s my only complaint with it, otherwise it’s a great budget table saw that gets the job done. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel. If you haven’t already, please consider subscribing. The 23,800 BTU will heat UP TO 1,000 sq ft of living space. My home is 900 sq ft so I use the 23,800 BTU size and it works great. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel. @americanbackroadhomestead

It’s tough to find in certain regions of the US. If you can’t find a gas station that has a kerosene pump, check your local retailer’s like Lowe’s, Home Depot, Rural King, Menards, and Tractor Supply. It’ll be more expensive though due to it being prepackaged. Last option I can think of is to check your local fuel delivery companies. If you have a kerosene tank, they might come fill it OR let you bring your cans to their station and fill them for you. Wouldn’t hurt to ask. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel! do you burn in the home continuously how much cool down do you allow and what about burning until you run out do you do that
@americanbackroadhomestead
@americanbackroadhomestead 5 ай бұрын
Hi 👋 Great questions! Kerosene heaters can be used two different ways. You can use them as a backup heating source (for like when the power is out and your central heat and air is down). Or you can also use them as a primary heating source (as in everyday, this is what I do). If you ever buy one of these Dyna Glo kerosene heaters brand new, you'll notice that the manual is written in a manner that manufacturer is assuming the consumer is using it as a primary heat source. Yes, I use this heater from October to about March as my primary heat source. Continuously...as in never shutting it down...the answer is no. Here's a specific example, I start the heater up around 9 pm and it will last me all the way until about 11 am. Then I take the heater outside and shut it down. Because I'm at mid day at that point when it's the warmest outside, I can usually get away with leaving the heater off for about 3 to 4 hours...sometimes even all afternoon. How long you can go without the heater really depends on how well your home is insulated, how cold it is outside, and what your comfort level is with temperature inside your home. Now if I'm dealing with single digit or teen temperatures, obviously the amount of time I can go without the heater is shortened. In that case, once I take the heater outside, I'll let it cool down for about 20 minutes, refill it, and turn it back on usually within an hour or two. Now to your "burning until I run out" question. I use every tank of fuel to it's fullest potential. That means I have timed out my heaters burn time so I know on average I can get between 12 - 14 hours of burn time. Knowing this info puts me in the position where I know approximately when my heater is going to run out of fuel so I'll be close by ready to take it outside for shut down. Now, because I use this heater daily, I choose to dry burn my wick once a week to keep the carbon deposits from clogging the wick. The day that I choose to dry burn, I will literally let the unit run out of fuel. You have to be close by when this happens. As soon as I see the flame diminishing, the dry burn process is starting and I immediately take the heater outside on the porch and let it continue to dry burn. Usually this is a 20 minute process for me. I make sure the unit is fully shut down afterwards, let it cool off, then refill. Never let the unit dry burn in the house, the smell alone is horrendous. Important information you should know is that ALL kerosene has sulfur in it. When sulfur is burned it creates black carbon deposits on your wick. The reason the manufacturer recommends clear, k1 kerosene is because that grade of kerosene has the LOWEST amount of sulfur in it. The reason we dry burn is to burn off those carbon deposits to keep the wick in full working order. If you never dry burn your wick, it will become stiff and extremely difficult to move up and down when you turn the black adjustor knob. This makes it difficult to light the wick AND to extinguish the flame when needed. Please keep in mind that I made this video using the worst case scenario of having to run this heater 24/7. Reality is that this rarely ever happens and my actual heating costs of using this heater every day is much lower. Price of kerosene is always fluctuating as well. What never changes is the fact that your heater is reliable because it is not dependent on the power grid. Sorry my response turned into a novel. I try to make sure that people who ask me specific questions about these heaters get the information they need to be proficient and safe with these heaters. I have tons of other kerosene heater videos on the channel, I encourage you to check them out. @americanbackroadhomestead
@americanbackroadhomestead 5 ай бұрын
Nope. Kerosene is kerosene and diesel is diesel. They are two totally different fuels. You may live in an area where kerosene sold at gas stations is not a common practice. If you ever find it at a gas station, it’ll be a separate pump away from the gas and diesel pumps and it will be clearly marked kerosene. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel. Where can I get a new igniter ? It wasn’t included in the wick
@americanbackroadhomestead
@americanbackroadhomestead 5 ай бұрын
Hi 👋 great question! I’ve never actually purchased an igniter separate from the wick. I always purchase this exact wick/igniter combo you see in the video because it’s usually cheaper to do so. Based on my quick google search just now, it looks like Menard’s, Lowe’s, and Amazon sell just the igniter. Average price I’m seeing is about $6.99 for one. You’ll have to double check the packaging to see if it’s compatible with this Dyna Glo model. Honestly, if I were you, I would track down this exact wick/igniter combo package that I show in the video because it’s really the best bang for the buck. This combo usually sells for $11.99 Even if you just use the igniter now and save that new wick for when you need it later, it’ll be worth it. Wish I had a more straightforward answer for you, but I never purchase the igniter separately. If you have any problems tracking down just the igniter, just know that you CAN still use the heater without one. You’ll just have to manually light it. I like to always keep a long BIC lighter on hand to be able to manually light it, way easier than using a match. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel!
