Such a good gearbox so underated , it was originally designed for Chrysler Australia by Borg Warner Australia in the 1970s , its Chrysler original designation was Borg Warner D20 4 speed, the Ford one fits exactly in the same place as a Ford Top loader , same input shaft splines and length , bolts to a top loader bellhousing bar one bolt hole that can be drilled , same clutch ,and mount, output shaft splines , there was a later 5 speed single rail that was not as strong and ended up in Aussie Sigmas, Holden Commadores with Star Fire Four and 173ci/2850 cc motors but not 3.3/202s it was also available behind 200ci/3300 ltr but not 250/4.1 s must have been worried about the little 5 speed breaking on bigger motors , the original stronger D20 4 speed Single Rail was redesigned by Borg Warner US , gained an Alloy case and a 5 th gear , redesignated T5 , but many Single Rail parts fit in the T5 .infact the Aussie T5s in six cylinder 250s are a direct replacement for a Single Rail bolts to all same holes and splines .

Whats the difference in actual weight? My flywheel came loose , almost came off , when i was street racing , the accelerator cable got stuck on the four barrel , i put the car in neutral and the engine rev out , i tried turning the motor off the steering lock came on , and i jiggled it unlock , by fluke we didnt kill our selves that day. popped the bonnet and the pacemaker extractors where glowing red hot . Is it true the hemis had a problem with flywheels coming loose ? If so what do you do to fix that problem ?
@TUFFR6Ай бұрын
Crazy story. Yeah the flywheels are know to come loose. I have a vid on here of how I stop that too 👌

Anyone tell me which way to bolt on my four barrel. Do you bolt it on North South or East West like in this video... f@&ken.
@JoshPhoenix11Ай бұрын
Its normally North-South and with the accelerator/butterfly linkage facing away from engine
@TheAustralianPatientАй бұрын
@@JoshPhoenix11 Cheers for that, but why not like this in this video. Why do some engines builders have it this way. What's the advantage?
@JoshPhoenix11Ай бұрын
@@TheAustralianPatient Well, I've been giving it some thought and aside from it somehow having to do with the accelerator cable being a different length for the Webers and only reached that far, or that they just accidentally bolted the carby to the manifold like that first and couldn't be bothered changing it. I actually think the carby might be better this way because the primary and secondary barrels are now more evenly feeding the ports because the 2 primary barrels and the 2 secondary barrels are alined parallel to the engine. But if the carby was North/West the primary's and secondary's are alined east/west, and I wouldn't think the air/fuel mist would spread out to all the manifold ports as good. I hadn't thought of this before, but thats the best I got 😊
@TheAustralianPatientАй бұрын
@@JoshPhoenix11 Again thanks for giving some thought to my query. I seem to remember something about the Bathurst racing E34 having its 400cfm Carter 4 barrel turned sideways but I've not been able to find out if this is true or not. I'm about to bolt a four barrel onto my long runner 'octopus' style manifold but I'm confused about which way to face it after seeing videos like this one that show the carburetor East-West.
@JoshPhoenix11Ай бұрын
@@TheAustralianPatientI just had another thought because I was trying to figure out why this wouldn't be the way they're meant to be, it didn't make sense why you wouldn't want both barrels of the primary and secondary's at equal distance from the head. And I thought of one possible reason. If there for some reason was a blockage in the jets and fuel flow wasn't precisely the same in both barrels, there'd be more chance of uneven fuel to some of the cylinders and combustion would be all over the place. But having the barrels aligned at a right angle like they'd normal be, it would likely still distribute equal amounts of fuel to each port, just not the full amount. And the engine would probably still be firing smoothly just only lacking the power. Dunno, hopefully theres someone else who knows more about it.

When the battery died down the track NT on the shovel with it's dyna 2000 I programable ignition that I had't programmed to single kick start fire , nearly had a baby kicking it . . it fired up fine quick , just have to have purpose (knew the battery was stuffed & found out) . . got 50kms down the road no problems as they run on alternator higher revs , then road works red light . . screw it run it off side of road & hitched to next town & back with new battery (had a side mount cradle I made left side for a small car battery)
