I reply here instead to the poster below for backstory purposes. The chinese were actually supposed to be stateless in malaysia after independence but they formed the greatest part of the Maoist communist insurgency that started in 1948. The British "hearts and minds" program pressed very very hard for the Sultans to give them citizenship when Malaysia became independent, else with no stake in this new country the insurgency could go on and on. So givingthe chinese malaysian citizenship is literally at gunpoint in 1957 not the malays were happy about it.

Do not forget Malay, Chinese and India get the contract together from British to gain independence. You are welcome to stay in British Malaya if you do not accept the new country. Meanwhile, new economy policy that contributed to all unfair treatment to minority was bringing in by UMNO. Not something we agreed during independence.

You are right but Malays unhappiness to the contract by the British give rise to UMNO. UMNO policies reflect the wishes and desires of the Malay population and in fact did a May 13 in 69 to force the issue .. yes? No?

I agree with the title and the content of this video. But, we just have to be wise and not be too emotional. Let us all just soldier on in this beloved country of ours. Those who want to leave, let them be. We all know that not all of them are happy, even while living abroad.😊

03.34 that is typical kind of mindset in certain Malay. They believe they are superior because they are holding the "Malay" or "Bumiputra" tittle, imagine the "white supremacy" in western world. While having this kind of mindset does not transform them into richer, productive or developed people. In other words, Malay usually need more helps in term of social and government benefits or in some cases using racial card to eliminate the development non-Malay entrepreneurship. This kind of unfair treatment causing many people leaving their country and lack of big development plan from private sector.

The British brought the Chinese and Indian workers to Malaya. When Malaya got its independence, British administrators asked whether the Indians and Chinese be returned back, the Malay sultans instead allows them to stay with conditions - the chinese and indians were allowed special privileges of which a reciprocation of Malay rights be respected without compromise - Kontrak Sosial/ Social Contract. What happens now is the result of that compromise between the Malays, Chinese and Indian were forgotten as the younger generations ask for more beyond what is agreed. To be fair for everyone, those privileges, be it Chinese/Indian type school abd quotas should be abolished where everyone should enrol in national school instead of Chinese/Indian based school, fluency in Malay language as National Language should be used in workplaces and in daily life, just like how the immigrants who came to America speak English as main language of communication abd whole other yard that is not being talked about in detail i. this video. but of course, Indians, Chinese and Malays of Malaysia will not agree to each and every term where every races lose ones they have now and possibly gain as equal. Me as a banana cina guy are highly doubtful that the chinese in general would want to forego their chinese based school nor speak the National Language i. daily life. Here everyone wants what is beneficial for them but are indignantly reluctant to lose what they have for so long.

China do not want them back the china then want them to join the MCP and fight to win a communist malaysia. the British forced the Sultans to give the chinese citizenship else with no state no hope they would fight on. Too sensitive to be taught in makaysian schools right 10:51

Incredible as it may sounds Singapore GDP was similar to Sri Lanka's. In early 60's ...disregarding GDP growth figures, you are talking about a country which surpass quality of life of Taiwan and Hongkong and sort on par with South Korea...not worth mentioning other Asian states...not too bad at all.

As an immigrant to Singapore, these are my observations: 1. Singapore has been built like this on purpose so that there is a constant flow of skilled migrants to and from Singapore. If you are not skilled, you are not required here and the resident population is kept on the edge to keep them on their toes with the competing migrants. 2. Ultimate goal is to have only rich individuals, others will leave or will die away. 3. No natural resources means no stability domestically and this is a reality, there are no permanent enemies or friends for Singapore 4. When people are busy and worried about the day to day living costs, there is no time or energy to criticise the polity

I disagree. Some countries like the Scandinavian countries and Switzerland has no minimum wage. Also the Prime Minister of Singapore being paid more than US President or any other EU leader is not the fault of Singapore but the fault of the other countries. Look the US President only gets paid like 200k USD, being the president of the largest economy in the world. Singapore pays its officials a very high wage in order to make them less likely to take bribes. Look at elected officials in the USA , almost all corrupt, so many bribe and corporate ties to business. SO many lobbyist and Gerrymandering.

Malaysia is happy that the other races left. Malaysia Malay with their mental limits do not ‘give a damn’ to the brain drain they created that will be devastating to their future. What Malaysia lost, Chinese & Indian Engineers, Doctors, Bankers and other professionals is Singapore, Australia and other countries gain. 😂😂😂 Silly.

Singapore now is a very HIGH cost country. With not much welfare for those fall inbetween the cracks or are retired, most even with their CPF Life pay out at 65, the amount is INSUFFICENT for the living expenses. Currently, the number of ppl taking loans after their middle age have been increasing. Locals have difficulty of getting a job and many resort to gig jobs to get by. Strange? When one would expect anyone above 40 would be more finanicially stable. Not in this country. The reality which is hidden from ppl outside the country.

You might also want to research into the Chinese settlers of Borneo. They don't share the same history as those of Chinese Malayans. The Chinese came to Sarawak in at least 2 main waves ... the first wave around 1700 to work in Brunei ..... at that time Brunei occupied the whole northern coast of Borneo. From about 1720 onwards, Chinese emigration to Borneo increased at the encouragement of the Sultanates of Sambas, Memperwah and Pontianak. The second wave, and more specifically to Sarawak, was encouraged by the White Rajah, Raja James Brooke and his successors.

As a foreigner, however, I still see Malaysia is a good place. 1. Safety 2. Potential of growth 3. Cost of living is affordable while other countries are suffering from the inflation. 4. Abundant natural resources. 5. Birth rate is high compared to many other countries. 6. Geopolitical advantages: located in the middle of SEA so good for trading. 7. The nature: it has a bunch of pristine beaches, jungles and mountains.
