Would you say you get 360 degrees of mist around those mist nozzles? I've got a very small mist system I'm trialing and can't seem to get 360 coverage, just trying to figure out where I'm going wrong
@photocontrol
@photocontrol 5 күн бұрын
Yes these get 360 degree coverage, sometimes they can get some uneven coverage from deposits or algae and need to be cleaned. I'm not sure why yours are not achieving a full circle, I wonder if there's imperfections in the pin head surface and doesn't disperse the mist evenly.

Nice RB 80. It seem the original heads with only fulcrum pin and driving off the nozzle shank the 70 too turns slow, it must not transmit the driving force as well as the later heads with the two post upper body, it may have to do with not enough gap between the stream and the nozzle shank, which limits the force from the arm when it cuts into the stream of water and forced close before water flowing to the spoon drives it into another cycle. I have a few of these but have never ran one of them..... we use the 80B/C site a bit but haven't set one of these up. I believe this was called the 80"special" with the Range Tube for a bit increased diameter and added coverage. Thanks for sharing! I see your trees are growing nicely!
@photocontrol
@photocontrol 5 күн бұрын
Thanks Kerry! Yes these original heads do turn a lot slower, I wonder if they had a slightly larger drive nozzle bore if it would kick the arm out a little farther for some extra driving force. The trees are growing well!

Nice #80. It has some nice distance and coverage. Runs well off your setup. I have one but I think the drive nozzle is a 7/32". Mine also is a slow turner too. Where did you find this one?
@photocontrol
@photocontrol 5 күн бұрын
Thanks! Sounds like your drive nozzle is a little bit smaller, these older models seem to be slower turners by their design. This was an eBay find.

@@photocontrol The dealer has buckets of them there. Tons of them. On risers. Must've used at a smaller field, maybe turf or golf course. Still would like to find a 808, theres some on ebay but they have stripped threads for drive nozzle. Not interested unless they go for cheap, I'd have to re-tap it. I'd probably take it to a shop and have them do it. those 808's are massive. Almost as big as a end gun!

I wonder if this impact is made by Sime... The design looks similar. A smaller version of my Senior. And your pump kicks that arm back like mine do. The thing i noticed about these impact guns is the pronounced "click" of the trip mechanism when the sprinkler reaches the end of it's arc. Mine especially is VERY loud. And even over the pumps you can hear it in the video. The spring they use to trip the sprinkler for reverse must be pretty strong. Both of the videos of the Sime senior guns I have on my channel you can very well hear the "click" when tripped. I think mine had not much use, it has marks and stuff on it but still in great shape. I hope to one day get its bigger bro the "Synkro" Its a wedge drive with a stream diffuser system that moves a wire clip into the stream every so often during forward and reverse. Also since its a wedge drive it reverses slowly like a SR gun.
@photocontrol
@photocontrol 5 күн бұрын
It's possible, or they had these produced in China. They do have a pronounced click in the trip mechanism. I'll have to keep an eye out for Sime sprinklers.

That's original. If I wasn't so lazy, there would already be a little movie about the Tegtmeier nozzle. It works exactly like the one you showed. A certain Tegtmeier claims to have developed it in Hanover in 1948. He applied for a patent for the nozzle in Germany. It was frequently mentioned in German irrigation literature in the 1950s and 1960s and praised for its fine spray mist. For me, it's always interesting to ask: Which manufacturer was inspired by whom?

Interesting how the stream from the impact nozzle gets completely absorbed by the massive range nozzle. It almost gives the water pattern the look of a gear driven sprinkler head.

I need your stand. As it would be easier to set up than my stand. Mine sticks in the ground and unless i position the legs right and spread out it tips over. Also this head kind of reminds me of my buckner 10601, except the rear spreader. Where did you pick this up at? Also i see part of mechanism on the back that is used for a PC version. Oh nvm thats the spreader port. Wonder if theres a PC version of this head ?
