Why on earth is he not singing the high parts in this wonderful song? Not doing this is ruining the whole thing. Sorry, but Neil is shaking his head I'm sure!

This song is much older than a lot of people think, it was written and recorded in the early thirties. But the big hit of the song came in a 1946 recording by Frankie Laine. It was the first of his 21 Gold Records. Many singers in every musical style from Country to do-wop have recorded it. But no matter how it's done "That's My Desire" is a great song.

Wow, that goes back a few years. Was this one of his first appearances on TS? The video for this song is like a mini movie.

Great song by Chris. Simple melody and chords but such as sad shimmer to it. Very cool with Doc Severinsen on this as well.

I accidentally got into an argument over who sings this song better, Neil Diamond or Johnny Cash. Just didn't like the way Johnny it. Then I read another comment that said Chris Isaak does a pretty good job and OMG I'M A BELIEVER! I have a new favorite version of "Solitary Man!!"

***** Love Johnny but *_not_* the way he does this song! Isaak does it as well or better than Neil does. It's just a great song!

"To spend one night with you In our old rendezvous And reminisce with you That's my desire (To meet where gypsies play Down in that dim cafe) To dance till break of day That's my desire We'll sip a little glass of wine And I'll gaze into your eyes divine I'll feel the touch of your lips Pressing on mine To hear you whisper low Just when it's time to go "Cheri, (johnny) I love you so" "You're my desire"

I love this. I don't think Ruby would be heading off to town if Chris Isaak was at home, even if he was missing a limb or two.

I am glad Neil Diamond wrote this song so Johnny Cash could do a cover of it better than Chris Isaac and better than Neil Diamond. Now go listen to the Johnny Cash version.

Thanks for posting. I think James Wilsey (absent here) was the best guitarist Chris had. Really was a big part of defining the sound and attracting Chris' fan base.
