Margret smith court needs to be in the top 3. She was extremely dominant in her era. I know she is not a hero off court with her views. But, she was extremely talented (especially after child births (3))

Who created this ranking? Sharapova in the top 10 is a desecration. And the first place should be reserved for Steffi Graff. Serena, however, only number two. Sorry - Steffi played everywhere and was always at the top. For a long time, Serena only played in grand slams.

Navratilova is the Greatest of all Time. People want to use every criteria in the book to discredit Martina - Most slams, most titles, most this and that, until she did all of that... then the criteria shifted.. Bunch of garbage. If only tennis was grand slams only... da fuck outta here

Anyone placing Venus Williams above Miss Navratilova is delusional. To be fair Serena an Steffi should be placed above Martina Navratilova. It is not only about Grand slams You must include win loss record time ranked at number one and top ten etc. With all the considerations Miss Steffi Graf should be number one easily. 8:16

1. Navratilova (best all-around player, most Singles and Doubles titles in Open Era, 340+ in total!! Most GS (18+31) and Tour Finals which were equal to GS in her time (8) in Open Era, Longest Singles plus Doubles reign, longevity, legacy, etc) 2...5. Court, Evert, Graf, S.Williams in any order (here in chronological order) 6...8. Hingis, Henin, V. Williams in any order Henin was my favorite player. Joyful to watch.

I'd like to add a few honorable mentions: Williams' powerful serve and ball placement, Graf's footwork, Henin's backhand and overall skill, Evert's consistency and clay-court accomplishments, and Navratilova's amazing reaction that gave her the edge in Doubles and net play.

@@supremetennisathletes5657 I don't really believe one can make a GOAT list...how do you compare Suzanne Lenglen and Serena Williams? The clothing, the equipment, available training tools, etc. have changed far too much to compare players from different eras (imho).

That Serena Williams is one of the greatest tennis players and a cultural icon who has inspired so many female (and male) athletes, as well as people of color, is undeniable. She will be greatly missed, but... Serena Williams vs. Steffi Graf - by the numbers GRAND SLAM SINGLES TITLES/GRAND SLAMS PLAYED: Serena 23/81 (28%) Steffi 22/54 (40.7%) # of Seasons to Achieve Slam Total (Years Between 1st and Final Major Win): Serena 19 Steffi 13 SINGLES TITLES/TOURNAMENTS PLAYED: Serena 74/235 (31.5%) Steffi 107/223 (48%) WEEKS RANKED # 1: Serena 319 (3rd all-time) Steffi 377 (1st all-time) CAREER SINGLES RECORD: Serena 836-147 (85 %) Steffi 902-115 (88.7 %) RECORD vs. PLAYERS WHO HAVE BEEN RANKED IN THE TOP 10: Serena 427-177 (78%) Steffi 452-91 (83%) # of Seasons in which player ended season at #1: Serena 5 (retired at age 40) Steffi 8 (retired at age 30) Both have won Olympic gold Steffi won a calendar Grand Slam (All 4 majors in the same year) and a Career Golden Slam in singles Serena won a non-calendar slam and a Career Golden Slam in singles AND doubles. Graf is the only player to win EACH MAJOR four times or more. This possibly suggests that Graf had greater versatility across different surfaces. On the other hand, Serena has a far more impressive record in doubles. So, why is the greatest player of all time argument so incredibly one-sided in Serena's favor? Are fans and analysts prisoners of recency bias? Is it because one of the players is American and the other was a foreigner? Is it because Serena is an extremely public figure who has successfully branded herself in the internet age while Graf was a bit introverted and shy? One might argue that Steffi would have won fewer titles if Monica Seles had not been stabbed. However, I would also suggest that if Venus Williams had not suffered from Sjogren's Syndrome, a serious fatigue disorder, in the prime of her career, she would have taken a few of Serena's grand slams. There is absolutely no doubting the cultural significance of Serena Williams as an American icon and as an inspiration to all female athletes and people of color. She should obviously be considered as a leading candidate in the GOAT discussion; however, I am truly baffled that the conversation is so one-sided in favor of Serena.

It's because Serena is American. Graf is obviously the GOAT, Navratilova and Evert next and then maybe Serena. Serena's on-court behaviour is also very questionable... threatening to kill lines people and all. Serena needed to play a decade longer to achieve less. How is that anything to glow up her resume? I mean... IF people go by numbers, then it's Navratilova... If they go by overall dominance, fitness and impact, it should be Graf.

Steffi Graf to me is the best female to have ever played the game. Not only did she achieve a golden slam (something no other player has done), but she managed to get 21 of her 22 grand slams by age 27, which is something Serena can't say for herself. Had she not been forced to retire at 30 years old because of her ongoing knee and back injuries, she definitely could've won more grand slams. Also, putting Martina and Billie below Venus is criminal.

great list, but feels too biased to current meta. Guys like Sampras and Agassi would have dominated almost any modern player on the surfaces pre 2001 and vice versa. In context of eras guys like Borg( dominated the slowest and fastest surface at the same time) and Laver and Agassi who actually had a lot more all court versatility than any modern player who isnt Roger should be a lot higher. Thats also why Roger is the GOAT. He actually dominated in both eras.
