We were paying several thousands in property taxes, including vehicles, in Connecticut. We now pay only hundreds in taxes for our house, and none of vehicles.

You're comparing it to Fort Lauderdale prices, North East FL is much more affordable. We've lived here for 24 years, our property taxes are less than 800 a year,3/4 acre,3/2 house. North Florida is a very different animal from South for many reasons. Just thought I'd throw that out there 😊

I moved from Ponte Vedra Beach in 2012 BECAUSE : The HOT WEATHER 9 MONTHS a YEAR, I love the seasons in TN High property taxe$ , mine was $10,000+ yearly, Gated community HOA fee$ High insurance Overcrowding and crime Alligators everywhere, my fenced in yard and golf courses I feel basically safer in E TN but I live on top of a mountain. There is NO SHOPPING in E TN tho unless you drive to Knox. We have basic Groceries.. I buy everything on Amazon .. Johnson City finally got a PUBLIX tho ! About Feb its nice to go where there's some sunshine and warmth, it helps your mood. No where is perfect..... Thanks for your channel... ❤

Both towns look beautiful😊 I love the concept of you exploring more small towns in NE TN. It would be really helpful too if you could mention the population, if the towns have any bigger stores like Walmart, Target, grocery stores, etc. or how long of a drive it would be to get to those stores, how close is the nearest hospital, etc. Thank you.

I shopped NE TN and ended up w/in Johnson City Limits. Disclaimer: First I'll echo some of the concerns about out of staters moving here to the locals. EVERY person I've met who moved here from another state has been VERY adamant that they will be militant voicing opposition to (lets be honest- its politics) the cause of crazy and the blight of where we moved from. The guy working the gun counter at the Bass Pro shop moved here from CA. He came here because he loved the 2nd amendment. You'll see the same theme in most everyone. PROS: 1- Schools are great. Those of you leaving insanity of Ca, Wa, Or, NY- you will be pleased with what you find. Even if you end up outside of Johnson City- the schools here have none of the garbage you see in other states. 2- same note- ETSU is here and so there is a great op for your kids to attend a local college. 3- crime/safety. Honestly I have PTSD from how bad my former state had gotten. While every place has some level of substance abuse and cardboard carrying zombies, NE TN has done a fair job of keeping it in check. You'll notice the sides of the freeways are CLEAN. Litter is at a min. 4- Restaurants. Johnson City has a lot to choose from. They are all great. You will put on 20 pounds because it's all good. 5 - Shopping. This is a pro/con. There isn't a Costco, but Costco does deliver out here. I'm not a Sam's Club fan. Also for lumber yards - you don't have the smaller family owned outfits here that sell the really high quality lumber- so you are stuck with Lowes/Home Depot and their off the shelf wood is very low quality. 6 - NE TN gets a break from the tornados. This close to the mts is where the tornados tend to stop. Not saying it never hits, but it's one reason we chose Johnson City over Crossville or elsewhere. 7- Tricities airport is very convenient and easy to use. Great trade off compared to buying in knoxville, ashville or nashville. CONS: Note: none of this should disuade you moving here. I'd move here again 10/10 times. But buyer beware: 1- There's no Costco. Closest one is Knoxville. 2- Drivers. Buy a sticker that says "Do you follow Jesus this close?" 2.a Roads. There is NO SHOULDER to any rural road. You aint biking or jogging safely on any road here. 3. Quality of Construction. We shopped for a long time. The quality of construction most everything we looked at was horrible. Our friends bought one in the 900+ range in 2020 and I have to say it cost them 200 more to get it up to snuff. A lot of clowns were in the construction industry here and built a lot of garbage- especially in the 2006-7 era. Also note- I think there was a plumber that wasn't deburring copper because you're going to find a lot of homes in that era here have leaks associated with that. We know people who bought in "The Ridges" who had to have plumbing and drywall replaced in a 1M+ house - so it's in the higher end homes. Very sad. It looks like it happened in our house as well as I can see the drywall repair under the plumbing. I also just had to fix under the shower pan where they did a poor job on it. The clowns that built the house we are in didn't even know what "square" was because nothing is square. It's not just our "bad luck"- I've seen it in a lot of houses on the market here. - the sad truth is- the home inspectors are pretty much Mr Magoo in pointing this out. 4. Inventory. Stuff is way out of whack for houses. There just isn't a good supply of quality builders to meet with demand. I'm hoping when we move from this place that the market settles out- but it was a huge trade off for us having to hold our nose on this purchase. 5. Parks and stuff. NE TN has some catching up to do on recreational stuff. Bodies of water are somewhat limited and not close. It's not like there's nothing, but before Washington Statewent to hell in a handbasket, I'd say hiking, running, biking, boating, tubing etc was far better (but they can't have nice stuff now, can they???) 6. Infastructure: It has some catching up to do to. The grid barely stayed up last winter. Also the outter areas are constantly having "boil water" warnings. At lease high speed internet does seem to be catching up here.

Anyone thinking of moving to Northeast Tennessee needs to inform themselves about the medical monopoly here and how that has negatively influenced quality of care. Also, because so many people have decided to move here, snatch up farmland, and buy out folks who no longer can afford to their real estate taxes, the cost of homes has doubled. Real estate here is no longer below the national average as it once was but our average income has stayed way below the national average. People are living in campers while they wait for a home to open up. Rents have doubled and what a person could rent for $800 less than 10 years about, is now going for $1600. This ship has sailed but I hear Kentucky is nice.

Its videos like this that contribute to why Tennessee, the Carolinas, and other Southern states are in rough shape for housing, as well as gentrification and destruction of the local culture. Look at what's happening to Iowa and Montana, and you have the answer to why we hate out-of-towners now.

I did the same thing, moved out of Florida, then moved back again a few years later. Our government needs to have the balls to enforce only 2 births perwoman and srop illegal migrants who keep birthing here for the extra welfare checks each baby brings. It's a welfare career for illegal migrants and asylum seekers. YOU , the taxpayers pay. Im in Florida now andcantwait to move out....to Tennesse where my Cherokee grandfather and ancestors lived. We need to control population growth because it causes climate change and destruction of our earth.

I love you too to death. You’re sweet, but honey the more you keep advertising our area that we’ve lived in all our life. The reason we can’t afford to live is because of you all and other people just like you the rent has went up for people my kids are in their 30s. Can’t even afford to buy a house because of what you’re doing advertisement please stop. It’s got to stop you know look at the poverty since you all came here it went up there’s more food banks that are helping out people. You need to read this and really look into it because I’ll tell you what the more you come in and bring more people in here in this state the more the taxes go up the more, the houses go up and more than food goes up. It’s right now at the point where people can’t even eat and I’m sorry to be gloom about it, but we don’t need no more that then you look on the other side of drugs look at the drugs it’s being peddled in here. You don’t tell them that do you it’s full meth the homeless right and like I said, you’re telling them the good things that are here you’re not telling them the bad things of course not the performing arts. No one around here can afford to go very rarely. Do I go only way I go is when it supports somebody I really like I just wish you would really give them the bad point of it that every town here is full of drugs so is everywhere else but this is bad here. Murder rate is up and some are the ones that you put here to move here is so high that if you were homeless in Johnson City, well they give you a ticket. Say keep on doing what you’re doing and you’re making more people homeless and if you don’t agree with me, I’m sorry I can have a conversation with you and let you know where the problems are because you advertisement is cause so many people come from every other state and live here now I know a lot of people and I have been in a professional workplace. It’s to the point where they’re getting our jobs our houses everything we can’t afford to live anymore too many people coming here keep up the good work yeah just because you’re a real estate agent you’re making big bucks more than I will ever make and I have a college degree.
