My 3 month old sleeps 30 minutes at a time at night. He goes to sleep at 7 breastfeeding. Then 30 minutes late is wide awake and not looking around, but screaming. He does that until 5am.

Thank you so much for this video. My husband and I are interested in effectively sleep training. We’ve been co-sleeping since our daughter was born. Now that we’re transitioning to her crib, obviously she’s struggling to fall asleep independently; especially with the Ferber Method. Her daily schedule is fairly consistent. Her nighttime routine looks like solids, bath, nurse and preparation for bed. When placed in her crib, she’s very determined to stay awake as long as possible and screams or cries nonstop. The frequent check-in’s upset her even more. She’ll cry for 2.5 hours or more a night. When crying, she cries so hard, often gasping for air and vomiting. The gasping for air and vomiting startles us. When co-sleeping, she frequently wakes throughout the night to nurse. (Though, we do get more sleep at night compared to when we try to get her to sleep on her own.)Nights are really hard and we’re feeling defeated. Definitely looking forward to learning more about the different methods you suggest. I am desperate for a change.

Please read the book and work on all the different aspects about sleep teaching! This is about so much more than just the put down. As a co sleeper - you'll want to be more gradual and start with the attended method from the book. a.co/d/00gB7SGj

It's hard to say with little info, but in general, the most common cause of night wakings at this age is staying awake too long before bedtime. Meaning: bedtime is too late. She needs to be asleep ~ 4 hours from waking from her nap.

Please read our book! There is more to share than a reply on a social media comment. As one reviewer wrote about our book: "This book transformed my newborn's sleep in less than 2 days. We went from co-sleeping and nursing to sleep to sleeping in his bassinet for the full night and napping in his bassinet throughout the day at 5 weeks. This was extremely practical and was flexible enough to implement right away! I am so happy I started this early." a.co/d/0gn9VKrp

Forget black out curtains!!!! Most time they still bleed some light from the top, bottom and sides! FOIL! Foil is where it’s at! I know it sound trashy and your neighbors will probably think you’re starting your own meth lab, but it will make the room pitch black dark. You will not be able to see your hand in front of your face. Install foil in my kids room tonight! Like 5 mins ago! It’s perfect. Spray a bit of water on the windows then the foil sticks right to it. Add some tape for security. And block any openings! GOLDEN!

good info. however, you can still be “breast feeding”, by bottle, meaning you still will know exactly how much they ate . that doesn’t mean they had formula just because you know how much they ate in oz/ml

Every 3-4 hours applies to babies that eat formula, for breastfed babies they can eat every hour to 2 hours, they might be going thru a growth spurt, so this information isn't so helpful, especially if the only thing that soothes the infant is the breast or pacifier, It could be helpful for older infants, over 6 months old not new born

It’s not so important if it’s abuse or not but I want to know what’s the best for the babies. Why do we have to train babies for sleeping which is something will come naturally with age? Heck, why do we train kids for anything like sleep, potty, things that are base in human natural behaviors and basic needs? It’s because if the babies are trained early on, the parents get easier time. But is it beneficial for the babies? That’s what I want to know. The society today seems to care about parents, not the babies’ needs so much. As for the cry it out method, I wish there are studies (yes plural; reproducibility is important) done with the variation of cry it out method and no cry it out measuring brain cortisol levels in babies.i feel like with that we will know what’s best for children.
@HelpingBabiesSleep
@HelpingBabiesSleep Ай бұрын
That's the whole point... sleep doesn't always just come naturally with age. The drive to sleep is biological but the way we sleep is a learned habit. There's a generalization that people who teach their little ones to sleep are doing it because it's what's best for the parents which is a judgement and fallacy. No one wants to do "sleep teaching" but they do so because they feel the way they are making sleep happen is unsustainable for their family's health and well being. These babies wake up sometimes hourly !! That's not healthy. If you're research oriented go and look up Dr. Jodi Mindell. She's done a plethora of work in this area.

As a 40 year old who won’t sleep unless I make myself (I mean, obviously I would eventually fall asleep if I stayed up for a few days, but I don’t sleep in a “natural” daily rhythm at all by nature) I totally disagree that good sleep routines aren’t a habit we need to work on.

Daytime she did NOT take to the training. We tried for 6 weeks and it didn’t take, and we think it might be because she contact napped and sometimes nursed to sleep before. We want to try again but are worried it won’t work again

Not sure if I'm allowed to vent to you but this is what I had when I was with someone I loved a lot. I met someone at a vape shop I was working at who I fell in love with as she shared so many things in common and I really wanted someone to be there for me at my worse moments and someone I could do the same for. Eventually we hit it off and soon I found myself at her apartment sharing the same bed, watching anime, playing video games and when I fell apart, I could trust her to be there for me. Long story short, she fell back in love with her ex who abused her and she ended up finding everything wrong with me and let me have it so badly that when I went back home with my parents, I cried alot. People say its cringey and wrong to feel sad for being apart from someone you love but to me that's just an excuse for people to tell me to "get over it" and "Quit whining" when I fell in a deep and dark depression. Its easy to leave someone for cheating but its much harder to leave when you can't find a flaw in the relationship... I grew more spiteful towards myself and often (For 4 years) I look back on what I could've had with her and the happy memories flood my head and I look at myself today and realize that she stole my heart but never returned it. I miss her a lot more now because she was the faint light in my darkness. The passionate nights we spent together, the morning waking up and seeing her smile... To everyone I'm pathetic and have to be this machine-like man who has to be tough and resilient and get mad everyday and not have emotions and pretend I am serious all the time and not be bubbly and I hate all of that... Loving people is difficult but hating and being spiteful is super easy right? What a society we live in where cheating and gaslighting is normalized and having a high relationship count is glorified... If I could choose to not exist, I think I'd prefer that over me becoming like every typical man...

Don’t put yourself down mate your not alone and you CAN do this and get through it, even if it seems impossible. I believe in you man, don’t let her take your life away, you deserve the world and to be loved for you. As hard as it may seem you need to focus your mind on alternate things and go out and maybe find a woman who loves you for you, don’t trust too easily but also remember not to treat everybody like they’re going to do what your ex did. You got this bro keep going 💪💯

Shes regressed in that she doesn't put herself to sleep anymore, we dealt well with the previous sleep regression quite well... Im getting probably 4 hours of sleep per day and i need my sleep to function at work. Im trying this today while im at home, tomorrow will do and then see if nanny can keep up. Teacher here: kids can have sleep apnea! (As well as other sleep conditions). It is more common than you think (even in kids who don’t carry a bit of extra fluff…and/or around puberty). I’ve seen kids unable to focus, extremely tired, etc. diagnosed with it. (or other sleep disorders). One pediatrician in my hometown encourages most parents have a modified sleep study (it isn’t required b/c he does take socio-economic well being/ people without insurance, how well kids sleep away from home, etc, into consideration…as well as severity and type of symptom) before diagnosis (they basically put a camera and a few electrodes on them) before they will diagnosis a kid with ADHD…it isn’t super common for the medical field, but more common than the average person would think (sleep disruptions can mimic some of the symptoms of ADHD…as well a make it worse/make other mood disorders worse). And sometimes they have both! Kepping a sleep journal for a kid (put a camera on them and document how much they flip and turn or wake up) can help! There are cameras that are motion activated so you don’t have to stay up all night for a week). Food, outside the obvious (like caffeine) matter too! (Put it on the diary too). While not (hopefully) an issue with little kids, vaping may be causing sleep apnea as well as other pulmonary issues!

Thanks so much for sharing! All of this is very true. As a mom of a kiddo of ADHD who has undergone a sleep study, I am well aware of those factors. However, this video is geared towards babies and so I want that to be clear as in most centers children less than 2 years of age can't undergo sleep studies. So your comments are valuable and accurate although maybe not for the demographic this video is serving.

Last night I used dreamfeeding to connect two long stretches of sleep. It was great. I woke up from a long couch nap at 01.30 while baby was still sleeping in her first long stretch ( she usually has 2) of sleep that started 21.30. I then fed her without waking her which I had never done before. This feed is usually around 00.00 and I would wake her for it, but this time I just was dead asleep on the couch so I didn't. After the dreamfeed she slept another 6 hours. I feel so rested 😊. I realise now I used it slightly different than explained in this video, but thanks to this video I did learn about it. So thank you! The big advantage for me was dreamfeeding her took way less time than waking, changing, feeding and putting her back to sleep. The 6 hour sleep stretch was a welcome bonus!
