A great video. I think there's going to be a challenge for Indian though, as the 101 as I understand it will be about $7,000 AUD cheaper than the Sport Chief? Power to weight ratio a very compelling package, with the twin discs and decent rear shocks too. Interested to hear what others think?

Keep the street on the street and dirt on the dirt... You'd better take picture of that dual sport if you ride it on real trails. It's not going to look like it did when you're done.

On the down side, this is no dirt bike, the plastic skid plate is a bad joke, the hand guards are equally useless, the headlight shield is for looks only. That said, I have never connected with a bike as fast as I did mine. The handling on the road is amazing, the handling on forest service roads and other primitive roads is better than a Honda NC750, and the power is quite surprising. An excellent small scrambler.

I have a 2023 T7. Absolutely fabulous bike for me. Quick, nimble and surprisingly good on the tar and great on dirt roads and ATV trails.I have had R1s, GXRS, a HD Electra Glide, dirt bikes, a DRZ, etc. This is the best all=around bike I have ever owned. There's plenty enough HP for fun riding. It's versatile, reliable and fun. I put soft luggage on, a taller windscreen, heated grips and ride it into very cold weather, 20F. I commute to work on it daily until the snow and ice arrive. I would rather have tubeless tires but I understand why it isn't sold with that option. It's a simple bike but it doesn't need to be complicated. It doesn't need different maps, it's power is very linear and easy to control.

What was the spend? For what you spent on this Suzuki, you could have had a modded Husky or Gas Gas, even KTM... What a waste of money and effort to try to get closer to the top Europeans. A massive waste of money IMHO.

Total cost was $14,500 plus the cost of the V-Strom. The point is to do something that's not been done-to build a bike that is competitive with dirt bikes, not other ADV machines. After finishing the Mexican 1000 Rally with some good results (video coming Friday), doesn't feel like wasted money to me. We're not here to tell you to spend $14K on modding a V-Strom, we're here to show what is possible. We don't see anyone replicating this bike anytime soon, but you never know.

The crazy thing is that the Norton Commando has relatively slow port speed. The 750s and early 850s had faster port speed than the late 850s. However, there are ways to convert the late ports to the early ports and even to convert to modern style ports. Dont get me wrong the commando is flawed in other ways, but there is something amazing about that engine, and to a certain extent what Triumph and BSA did in the 60s that is lost on a lot of modern motorcycles.

Modern Black Magic... What factor makes the biggest difference in a race: the bike, the rider or the tyre? The answer is why every series uses spec tyres these days.
@gasracing5000
@gasracing5000 Күн бұрын
Yes, I know the reason most series use control tyres is the sponsorship money. The proceeding question is still valid and can have multiple reasons to arrive at the same answer.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the "dark side". I don't ride a bike that I would ever do this to. ZX14. But I am one of those rare ones that is a member of the Victory riders group, which some have been going this way. My thoughts are on big cruisers these people can drive straight really well and that is about it.

Kenny Roberts is a smart guy he helped to Develop the Lectron Carburetor and built his own Two Stroke Race Bikes called the Proton. They had some Electronics and Fuel Injection . When the AMA allowed 1,000 CC Fourt Strokes to compete with 500 CC Two Strokes, it put and End to KR's Protons and the Bikes that Eric Buell was building ..

A Twin Engine Norton is Nothing .. E.J. Potter was running a Fuel Injected 327 Chevy in his home-built bike and he was three times World Record Holder for the 1/4 mile.. No Transmission just rev the bike up on the rear wheel stand. dump it off the kick stand and do a 1/4 mile long burn out ..

I am in favour of reducing the size of the rule book, not increasing it. I think Dorna have missed a trick. To slow the bikes down simply instruct Michelin to make tyres that perform as well after 20 laps as they do after 5. There would be less grip available, corner speeds would be reduced as would straight line speed as drive out of corners would be affected. There would also be the side benefit that riders would no longer have to conserve tyre life, they could just race.

This dyno is relative to what gear you put it in because the Transalp is geared TALL, and you need to make sure you put it in USER Mode with traction control turned off or it will never reach its potential.

Bagger racing is equivalent to watching a series where Buick LeSabres race Mercury Montegos. Good close racing, but the drivers can take their coffee along, to make it seem faster.

Yes I’m buying one. Ive been building my own, trying to keep the price down. I did notice the limited price jumped from $13.5K up to $13.7k. I’m a new rider, and never ridden before, I haven’t seen any reviews with the floorboards instead of pegs and none of the fairing options on bobber. $500 for sport quarter fairing, $1k for batwing fairing sheesh but i think it would look badass. But the more i build the bike to what i want, i can get a used Chieftain/Street Glide Special for nearly the same price….

The baggers series is great and Harley and Indian both are doing great things in this series. All the while AFT, the American Flat Track series is suffering from the lack of factory support from Indian and Harley Davidson. Indian still had the FTR750 as a dominant bike in the series. While Harley Davidson abandoned the sport all together. There are only two Harley Davidson motorcycles being ran in the sport without any factory support. Those being the XG750R supported by a dealer like Latus Motors and a XR750 from Dodge Brothers racing, that's rated on a part time limited schedule at mostly short tracks and halfmile races. There's talk of a an adventure tracker series starting up for just one race a Sturgis. Both Harley Davidson and Indian need to refocus their interests in AFT, instead of devoting all their time and energy in the Moto America Bagger series.

In a Motorcycle it costs less to change the Oil than the Oil sample costs.. My Local Power Sports dealer raised the price for a Fram Filter for my Buell or a Kawasaki Mule from $8.00 to $12.00 I searched the Part # and Walmart sells the same part# Fram filter for $4.11 I used to buy Aftermarket Filters for my Yamaha for $4.50 the same filter fits my snowmobile that uses a Genesis Motor based on the R-1

Oil Anylasis Companies don't tell you to look for what is about to go wrong with your engine. They tell you what is in the oil.. It it is very high in Iron ect .. that means the cylinder walls are wearing excessivly .. If the oil is high in Copper and Lead.. it tells you the bearings are wearing excessivly .. If it is high in Silicone.. it makes you air clearer is not working and dust is getting sucked into your engine.. If there is Anti Freez in the Oil it means you have a bad head gasket ect.. High in Carbon .. running dirty or burning oil .. If you have fuel dilution it means it's running too rich .. has a bad injector and a bad spark Plug ect..

Tough decision on which one - I like the looks of the Speed 400 better, and it apparently handles better. But I'm 6'1", and it sounds like the Scrambler would be more comfortable... fortunately, I can't afford either one, even at those prices....

Heavy Oil Tar .. is used to make asphalt. Heavy Fuel Biler Fuel used in ships is so thick that it has to be Preheated before it can be injected into a ship engine. It is very High in Supplier. One Container ship pollutes as much as 50 Million modern small cars in the USA

Yamaha Specs Lower Grade oils that are available in Remote areas in Third World Countries. I have always read that gasoline savings motor oils can make your wet clutch slip. My FZ-07, Yamaha says change the Oil every 4,500 miles and filter every 9,000 miles.. I went 6,300 miles on a Trip .. The Oil had Broken down and lost Viscosity. The Problem is my Fan does not kick in until 221F .. I need to flash my ECM get the engine temp down .

Honda XR650l is much more capable than klr650, lets not forget klr’s gremlins, two recalls… fuel pump… steering stem nut over torque… balancer chain tensioner aka (dohickey) issues. And if you take klr to baja and have to do a valve adjustment on the trail, don't forget your shim kit and calculator and tools valve cover and cam removal reqired.
