I just cut it at an angle, scraped back some of the bark and put it in some soil

@@Kicks001 hmm mine sometimes do if I try too large cuttings or don’t keep them watered consistently or have them out in the weather too much. Some rooting hormone could help

I loved your video! I just bought an Elm sapling and when I tried to find a video on how to start with this little elm, nobody had a video with a skiny little tree. Hey man, u have a couple videos on that but for a willow (as they need to be in water) that kind of soil wouldn’t be ideal. Something that has poor drainage or even keeping the pot in a tray of water works well I think

Mount Spurgeon pine (Prumnopitys ladei) I have made one into a bonsai as well. They’re reasonably rare and only native to 2 small areas in Queensland AU. Mine lives in Sydney and is doing well.

Yeah I get the suckers growing too, and keep pruning mine back. Could keep them if in a good location but I tend to find they grow from strange locations 😅

I have never used proper commercial bonsai soil until last year when I changed a few of my trees over to it, however by the end of the summer the soil was very hard packed. Is this desirable? My tendency is to remove it.

Sometimes they do, it definitely shocks them, but if you are really good at keeping them in safe conditions afterwards they can recover well

Hey mate, I’ve been doing a bit of a mix most recently of my standard mix (on my channel) with a bit of standard soil mixed in. Just seems to work best for me here but will depend on a few variables as to what’s best for you

I don't think this is a wisteria. Wisteria is a genus of flowering plant in the legume family, Fabaceae. The genus includes four species of Twining Vines that are native to China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, southern Canada, the Eastern United States, and north of Iran.

Hi mate. Looking at this vid. 11 months after shooting. So…. how is the My. Spurgeon Black Pine faring? My wife and I picked up a couple of 30mm specimens on the Internet, and then four more tube stock from a nursery in Moss Vale NSW. How old was your pine when you first started pruning? Hey Robert, it’s been doing pretty well 😊 just recently did a bit of a prune. I’m guessing it was only 3 years or so old give or take but I could be a bit off there. Looks like you’ll have some promising new bonsai!

I have a small lime tree that I could prolly prune into a bonsai. That would be amazing as I have no idea what to do with it otherwise! It was a gift. I raise succulents. I put it in a spare terra cottab pot with some commercial citrus soil. It's doing OK, but it's too tall for the indoor greenhouse, and I don't need a plant that will get too huge. I have an Elephant Bush that I'm going to train into a bonsai as it gets bigger, but now that I know I can do this to that tree, it's going to be done this spring! I love this so much! You prolly saved this tree from being rehomed! Lol!

Nice looking Benjaminas Euan and some great initial styling. These trees are very tolerant (especially in warmer climates like where you are) so should recover well and sprout out more growth like crazy
