Lockheed- Martin's LRASM, although too large to be carried in the weapons bay of an F-35C, is a more capable 5th gen. anti-ship missile than the Kongsberg-Raytheon NSM. Obviously, F-35C pilots love the NSM because it fits in their weapons bay giving them a > 100mni standoff range while maintaining maximum radar stealth.

The J31 is more stealthier than the F35, but the F35 have more advanced recognisence equipments. The F35 is easier to track from behind whilst the Chinese fighter's downside is its engines which were not designed for it.The J31 could be deadly with its long range beyond visual missiles but it could be easily downed by IR tracking missiles.
