Great and generous walk thru. I’m curious what the mixer on the table, below the Roland mixer, is for? And what brand or make is it? Is it a dmx mixer?

I'm actually shopping a couple overheads now, I see a few online used for around 75-150. If I were to do it, what lumens do you recommend to get professional with this?
@LiquidLightLab
@LiquidLightLab Ай бұрын
The brightest overheads made are around 7.5k lumens, but they use and HMI bulb and are quite difficult to find. Below that the brightest projectors are around 4k, which use an incandescent bulb and are much easier to find... However, to go professional you'd ant to use a camera / light table / digital projector set up. 10,000 lumens and up is nice

in the 70's and 80's i worked at a sound co. and would provide sound and light shows at parties, schools, we had two metior pro beams that had two steel rods that came out of the front and you would slide a motor unit over the rods and drop in these cassettes we had, we had a whole case of them, oil cassettes, flowers even a orgy scene that would rotate very slow but light up the whole wall. very bright, very sharp optics. i can't even find a picture of them now on the internet., not the projector, not the cassettes. nothing. i loved messing with that thing. just don't grab the orgy cassette at a high school gig. the cassettes were about 6-7 inches round and made of glass with a rubber edge so the motor could drive it. oil cassettes were a two pirce unit to make random shapes.

I think what you might be referring to is Optikinetics. They still make them actually, and you can get the old ones as well.

What an awesome explanation of light show history! I’m going backwards right now…Picked up a vintage aluminum portable light show device 8’ open with a control box, 16 pin connecter cable, who ever made this was way out, as they have colored pan lights w rope controller, 2 motors with 5 panel mirrors that revolve horizontally, disco ball with built in motor reverse, Super strobe, 13 flash colored single shot strobe bulbs. Very old school. Not as cool as this.. but a great vintage unit that’s portable.

Hello, friend! I want to buy your packs but I think my overhead projector doesn't project the colors. Which one do you use? Is there one that you recommend to me? Could you help me with that? I'm attentive, thank you! 🌀🪽
@LiquidLightLab

Hi, thanks for commenting. Any overhead projector like the one I show here will work. As long as there is a light at the bottom, and a lens and mirror at the top, you'll be good... If you don't see any color, it's possible the dye aren't the correct ones (not all are transparent). Checkout LiquidLightShop.com, I sell highly rated ones... Feel free to ask any other questions!

Why have a extra cam for feedback? Resolume has that option already. I know it looks a bit different, but the difference isnt that big in a digital setup.

A camcorder is good for a budget. After that, a prosumer video camera like the Sony A series is good too. I like the latter.
