Hi Bob, great video. I have recently bought an MGF and would like to fit one of your kits. Do you currently have any available to purchase please?

David, I stopped making theses some time ago, they're quite labour intensive and I had a lot of other work on. I may have a bit more time now and might make another batch. If I do, I've got the parts to make a few complete kits including tanks and sensors. I let you know if I do make any. Thanks Bob

I have a very old version of this model of coffee maker that I bought about 25 years ago second hand, it worked then but I havnt used it for over 20 years. I'm cleaning it up and rewiring it but have been unable to find out how it is filled with water. I cannot get the top of, though there is a cap on the top and took it of, underneath is a bolt holding the top on, which I cannot undo. Do you know what Im doing wrong.
@ExcusetheMess Жыл бұрын
It’s likely that you left water in it and it corroded the threads together. Being careful not to damage the handle, you could try heating the top of the reservoir to get the metal to expand. This would make it easier to remove the male threads.

Hi Bob. Just finished watching your video and I would be interested in purchasing one of your kits. Is there anyway to fit this to a Mk1 MGF VVC. I notice Rimmers sell a similar system that you can remove the LED out of to place into a switch blank on earlier cars. Thanks.
@simonhedges13025 жыл бұрын
Hello Bob, this looks like a fantastic bit of kit. I have the same issue as Gordon, I have a Mk1, I was wondering if you could supply the electronics without the switch blank so that I could box them up somewhere and route the LED to an unused warning light in the instrument panel?
@gordonhack52125 жыл бұрын
@@simonhedges1302 Hi Simon. Rimmers do a kit that is something like this and it has the led and bizzer separate from the switch fitting so it will work with the Mk1 dashboard. I would much rather buy this one from Bob as the Rimmers kit can take up to 30 seconds to alert you to a problem.
@simonhedges13025 жыл бұрын
@@gordonhack5212 Thanks Gordon, I have looked at the Rimmerbros kit and I too would rather have Bob's, it seems to be better performance and value, the Rimmerbros one is over £180 and I already have the bottle and sensor.

Fitted mine a couple of weeks ago at the same time as having stainless steel coolant pipes fitted gave it a good bleed but always hard to get that last 1/2 litre . Anyway went for a ride on the Sunday & As sure as day the alarm went of the water level dropped about an inch topped up with distilled water no problem since very impressed I think it’s better than the factory fitted one & definitely than them over priced contractions on the market.

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you're pleased with it. I make and sell these to help fellow F and TF owners. Having had a head gasket fail due to a split hose is why I designed it, I was lucky (how is a failed head gasket lucky!!) as I got away with just replacing the gasket and split hose. As these cars get older the more likely hoses are to fail.

@@bobdavis8561 Just had a head gasket repair and fitted SS underfloor pipes, water pump, tensioner etc hence the reason I would love one of these - certainly don't want to have to go through all that again due to coolant loss so its a definite need for me!

Hi Anne, your tank won’t have a sensor and it’s probably unlikely you’ll be able to fit a sensor, unless the tank has been replaced at some time. It’s fairly easy to check if you know what to look for. While the engine is cold remove the coolant filler cap and look inside to the left hand side of the tank, if you can see a white cylindrical float approx 15mm in diameter then the tank will accept the sensor, if not I’m afraid it’s a new tank. I’ll be putting another batch on ebay in the next couple of weeks and I’ll put the item number on here. Bob
