Awesome Oli. Congrats on finishing your first marathon in an amazing time as well. I'm sure it would not be your last. I've never ran more than a half marathon but completed three full IM. Maybe that's something you should do next. If so, good luck.

Our body is not supposed to run that long time. That's why its hard to finish a marathon when you run too slow.. That's not because you run slown that its going to be easier.Running 3 hours is not like running 5hours. People need to understand it... anyway its about pratcising.

Im currently training for a marathon and I clicked this video and when I saw it I was so surprised it was from moncton my home province. I used to drive by that running club store all the time and recognized it right away it was like 5 minutes from my grandmothers house. I think its cool that you ran the marathon without training, but from what I saw from your other videos is that you played soccer and were already in pretty good shape so for you I think its ok, but a guy who doesnt play other sports or who is normally active wouldnt make it without causing health problems. Anyway Im excited to run my first marathon this Sept in Montreal! I just registered today and I started an 18 week Nike Marathon training plan thats on an app with an audio coach to guide you through the runs a week ago. Im already in quiet good shape, I get mostly 10'000 steps per day and love long distance walks so I just need to get back into running. Im probably going to do a run walk run method. I hope I make it to the end as my last two sporty goals were to go sky diving and run a marathon. I even went to the library and borrowed 35 books about running, marathons, marathon training and runners biographies. My goal is to finish reading them all before I run the marathon and will be an expert on the topic by the end of it. Im not very good at making youtube videos anymore but maybe I will write and article or a book about my own experience training for the marathon after it.

I did this with my first 10k. No prep and had not long distance ran for years. It was the most sore I’ve been in a very, very long time, and I developed a small case of hip bursitis as a result of the run. Would not recommend lol.

Having done no training for something doesn't have anything to do with the personal fitness. I can be a 400m world class runner and could easily win a national championship on 400m with hurdles. WITHOUT TRAINING !!!1111 Distinguish "not having trained" and "untrained"

I did this same thing when I was 17. The furthest I had ran in a day was 25km. I decided to run a marathon that was a week after my spring track season. I knew nothing about "bonking" and ran the race with no food. I bonked at about 30km and just had to walk. I walked no more than about 10 steps when a gentleman started walking next to me. He ask "did you hit the wall?" all I could do was nod. He handed me a banana and said "eat up, I will see you at the finish" and he ran off. I ate the banana and instantly felt better. Started running again and I passed him about 5km later. Ran a 3:40. Saw the gentleman at the finish corral and told him thanks. He laughed and said "I meant that I would be at the finish first, I wouldn't have given you my banana if I knew you would beat me." I ran 3 other marathons over the next few year (without training, because I was young). I would be sure to bring some food, but I would get a banana from my mom or a friend along the course and be sure to pay it forward to someone else during the "bonk zone" of the race. I never broke 3:30 in the marathon which is no surprise with out training. I was blessed with natural endurance. Unfortunately a partially torn ACL ended my endurance running days before I could grow out of my "meh, why train" phase.

There's so many people living in this tiny city, god help you if you have a medical emergency you could be dead long before a doctor can see you. The forests surrounding the city are full of tents and homeless, literally called tent cities. It's not as nice as what you are lead to believe. The city is built on a wet marsh and is also rat infested.

Good job 👍 I ran my first marathon without training with a time of 3 hours and 51 minutes and came third in my age group and came 31st back in 2016, I also did another marathon in 2017 and ran 3 hours and 45 minutes and came 2nd in my age group and 15th overall out of like 200 people, I also set running endurance records to see how long I can run without stopping and my current record that I did on March 5th, 2024 was 4 hours and 40 minutes, I don’t like to brag but who knows, maybe you might have better speed in some other races or have different strengths in other sports.
