What time of year was this? Is there an alternate route to avoid that river crossing?
@campinginafrica4 күн бұрын
Hi. We were there April, May. It is only with very heavy rain that you cannot use the bridge. You can drive through Citrusdal. Turn right at the 4 way stop. It is a gravel road and you will turn into the road to Algeria just pss the bridge. Happy camping.

Great video! Thank you! What waterholes did you visit at Khaudum NP and was it tricky to drive? We are going October there . Thx & greetings from Germany
@campinginafrica9 күн бұрын
Hi thanks for watching. Sorry it took a while to reply, we were off grid for a few weeks. We explored more of the Southern Part of the park as we had to enter and exit through the Sikereti Gate. The waterholes we visited was Omuramba, Soncana, Tari Kora, Dussi, Leeupan and Tsau. We saw the most game at Omuramba and Tsau. THe drive was fine. It is a lot of thick sand however if you stick to the tracks you should be fine. We were there in June/July so it was the dry season. We visited just after covid and you could see that there weren't any visitors in the park and many of the roads were overgrown with trees or elephants pushed trees over the road that we had to remove. The park is still very remote. We would recommend that you go in a convoy of at least 2 cars just because you don't really know when the next car will come past especially if you pick up some trouble. However if you are going alone just let the rangers at the gate know what your movement in the park will be, just in case. Do pay Khaudum a visit. It is still to an extent very raw and untouched, although I heard they are building a Lodge (or have built a Lodge) so I don't know for how long that will last. But it is still worth a visit. Hope this helps.

Hi there. We were off the grid forva couple of days. You can check the website of Basshaven for prises. The cost is for the entire camp and a minimum number of campers.

Fabulous! Please advise on Your solar set up. It looks like flexible panels?
@campinginafrica28 күн бұрын
Hi sorry we were a bit off the grid for a while. The solar panel we used in the video is a 200W foldable solar panel made Eiger. It comes with a solar regulator aswell. We connect it with grey Harrison plugs to the battery in the Landy or Bakkie. The solar panel on the trailer is a fixed one. But we can also charge it from the foldable solar panels. Hope it helps feel free to ask more questions.

@campinginafricaАй бұрын
We have been using the bakkie for 2 years now and must say we are impressed. We have not had any issues yet. I will admit it could do with a bit more power esspecially when you are towing in the hills. Otherwise we don't have any complaints. We have done some offroad driving with the bakkie and it it handled itself very well. We are happy, very good value for money.

Nice review, we were there in August last year... Most stunning flowers. The Enjo team told us that they are working on private ablutions that were unfortunately washed out during the flood in July. Keen to see that come together. If you go back for flower season: Negotiate with the weavers in the tree on Camp Site 1 or park the trailer away from the tree. They have a rather active cloaca requiring loads of elbow grease to restore the awning... 😜

We will be on campsite 2 luckily. The ablutions under construction when we were there. Maybe it will be operational when we go back.

There is 220V power but the only plugs availible at the campsite is traditional 3 point outlets so you wil need a coversion for a moterhome plug.
