Thank you so much for your kind words. New dragonflies to Cornwall are few and far between, but having so many good sites near our coast you never know what you may find! I'm always hoping to find something exciting. 🤞

Awww...that lovely. I can watch Jackdaws on my neighbour's chimney pots, but not this close up, even with binoculars. I've watched them bringing in twigs for their nest. They take quite a while to decide whether or not they want a twig. I've never seen them preening like this though 💜 I get Jackdaws in my garden too. They feed on the fatballs, suet blocks, apples, and the fat in the seed mix that I scatter on the lawn. I only feed 3 days a week though, as obviously birds need natural food too, esp in the Spring, during nesting season.

Interesting shaped beaks. They look strong and would be good for opening the pine cones.

I've been recently trying to feed and befriend my local corvids, and I've noticed the majority of them are jackdaws nesting in unused chimneys near my local shop. They've been getting more confident coming up to me to accept offerings of peanuts, almonds, and cat treats. One of them even let me sit less than 5ft away as they pecked at a peanut to crack it open. I think these might be one of my favorite animals in the world at this point, heh.
@tatiania4Ай бұрын
I need an update! Are they warming up to you more now? Corvids are just incredible creatures 😁
@DitherPlusАй бұрын
@@tatiania4 They seem to be warming up to me, yeah, they've definitely learned the places I leave food for them and the newly fledged babies have been enjoying my presence too it seems. They're wonderful little creatures.
@eisforeggАй бұрын
Keep at it. They've been taking a long time to warm up to me, but I now have one in particular who will hop up onto my bench and chill with me for a while even after I've indicated there is no food left. He ate out my hand a couple of times and even landed on my knee once, though I'm trying not to encourage it too much because they should maintain a healthy wariness of humans.

Thanks again Rob. I must say we do get more than our fair share of Woodchats here in Cornwall. Shrikes are my favourite family and I try to see them when they turn up. I really hope one turns up near you and you get to see it. All the very best to you Rob.
