Meade received command of the Army of the Potomac at St. John's Prospect Hall in Frederick, there is still a marker present. Unfortunately townhouses and apartments crowd around it. Washington may have stayed there also, there was a marker before entering Rt. 340 west to Jefferson years ago which I always remember it saying "George Washington passed this way". The marker was removed, not sure who has it presently.

One hell of a story! For the most part Lee's army returned to Richmond fully intact, along with 50,000+ head of cattle and sheep and other provisions. Lesser armies could never have done it.

I love this whole period in our History! Walked through so many sites, read every plaque(much to my family’s eye rolling) this is what it took to make us free! I appreciate the History Lesson-never too old for reminders, new lessons lest we forget how we got to this freedom!🇺🇸🦅✝️

One of the best such presentations. Only complaint is one that is far too often on KZfaq and that is background music that is way too aggressive and loud. Very distracting to the narrative. Nevertheless, the story is really interesting. I thought I had a good handle on all the issues that led up to the “shot heard ‘round the world”. Guess not!!! Tho my 6th great grandfather took two of his sons to Concord & Lexington in April, 1775.

Limited success? Limited success? Has Ewell been more aggressive he would have run John Buford the hell off of there. On the second day they were looking over into the rear of the Yankee army. Come within a breath of taking it the second day. It wasn't limited it was a goddamn bar fight with bottles and knives

Twice Lee invaded the North, twice he was defeated and retreated. People forget the Union was always the invaders that is why they attacked were defeated and retreated to regroup. That is until Grant attacked and never retreated until victory, Lee was overrated.

Paved the way for civilization??? By stealing the land from the Native Americans??? The Cherokee attacked? Or the Cherokee defended their land and way of life?? Then he abandoned his wife and children to explore??? I wore the raccoon skin cap with the tail when I was a child; and yet, I can still see the untruths of this glorified white male history. History needs to tell our children the good, along with the bad! We need to tell the truth.

Were Americans not taught in school that the "American Revolution" was fought between the British colonists and the British government? Both sides had British accents. The first three US Presidents all had British accents, and possibly the fourth.
