I can understand covering rail tracks to avoid having deep cuttings or where housing development needs to be screened against noise etc. But viewing the drone shots there appears no evidence of either. There has to be a reason!

This is why i love Documenting the progress so in ten years time we can see the difference. Nature always finds a way to reclaim and adapt, just take a look at the Great Central Railway that once ran through Woodford Halse, it truly beautiful and a Sanctuary for wildlife.

Also the reason it is massively over budget and the north of England is missing out, total travesty the over engineering of this section, a plain embankment would have been perfectly fine through this section…it needed stronger project management to say no, all the other railways round here are visible, this one is going to be as well

I also respect your opinion however, I'll assume that you fly drones and therefore know how absorbed you get when you are concentrating on the flight and you may not be fully aware of what is going on Immediately around you. Well i do so this is why I always have a spotter with me to keep an eye on everything that is going on around me and when that person shouts "watch your back!" It was disruptive as well as a shock to see a vehicle that close. Remember, the camera never dose the situation justice. These videos are also for entertainment! 😉
@mikebromell3072

If your that absorbed then you should park more sensible, no where near a junction and stand off of a road where you are totally safe from passing traffic. It may have been my English grammar and punctuation but I ment you should treat all people with respect and not call them goons just because they are doing their job . Asking a person what they are doing near a major infrastructure build ?? Were you actually on a public highway or private road? I know the through road on the Syresham Bypass road is an adopted highway but I’m unsure of the roads off leading to the building infrastructure. Can you clarify this? If it’s not an adopt highway then it’s private land and you have no right to park there . If it is a highway then could you be commuting an offence of obstruction due to your parking? Is it legal to fly a drone from a public highway? I’m not sure . Many points to consider here before you paint people doing there job as goons !

When HS2 is up and running and shown to be a great success, there will be a clamour to extend it. But we need to have a reckoning with certain narrow interests who have added enormous delay and costs to this very necessary project. I would suggest for starters, the BBC, Chris Packham, various MP's, most environmental 'charities' such as the woodland trust.

@@user-bd4gt4qx9s.. you can kiss goodbye to the line being extended to Manchester. Labour will win the election & in a January interview, Sir Keir Starmer stated they have no plans whatsoever to revive the line, saying .. "it's not possible to do as the Tory government have blown the budget & contracts are going to be cancelled". As for the environment, are you aware that HS2 Ltd have already incurred numerous fines for multiple breaches of environmental issues? Thousands of trees planted along the route in Warwickshire where the vast majority perished due to lack of aftercare. The pollution of streams, rivers & other waterways. The bulldozing of mile upon mile of hedgerows containing nesting birds when they specifically said they'd wait until the nesting season was over .. the list goes on. HS2 is an environmental disaster of epic proportions & Britain's biggest infrastructure mistake in half a century.

In 2 years time it will all be green apart from the trackbed. The big areas appear to be carefully sorted piles of topsoil, subsoil and other excavated material. Obviously this will all be put back. Have a look at the new areas of chalk grassland at the southern end of the Chiltern tunnel. Some good engineering going on.

It will go down in our history that this is the biggest White Elephant of our time. Even when the government realised it wasn't now needed they didn't have the courage to cancel it. 43% of folks now working from home and the route being shortened. The money would have been better spent on our existing rail network with the addition of some extra Parkway stations. When future generations read about how much of our precious countryside it destroyed; how much of our wildlife was eliminated and how useless the service is, they will wonder, quite rightly, what on earth we were thinking of?
@user-bd4gt4qx9s

It will go down in our history as "why didn't they build it earlier!?" It will get built to the proper original design, that is, to Manchester. The LNWR West coast line is sinuous and at capacity. This HS2 should have been built 20 years ago. Read some railway history!
