I graduated Penn in 2023 & I didn’t know my goals or what I was even working for either… DO NOT WORRY!! I’m in a decent law school now with 90% scholarship (due to great gpa @ Penn & a superb essay) now because my parents told me to…. Still confused what I want to do with my life but I’m founding a nonprofit & look forward to the salary increase a JD usually brings… I dabbled with consulting & finance clubs from the College of Arts & Science… opted out because parents pushed me into law track… Most Penn people were insufferable in my opinion about grades & competition… my real friends were amazing & supported each other fully ❤❤❤ if you haven’t found those die hard buddies don’t fret!!! It is never too late to meet real friends. I found my besties senior year because junior year I was abroad & freshman/ sophomore year were covid! Your first job doesn’t have to be the best/ end all!!! You’re already so far ahead of so many people your age!!! I was totally burnt out this year in law school after going straight from Penn. DO NOT FRET!! Be proud of how much you’ve achieved! Try to drown out the toxic noise from Penn peeps!! ❤❤❤

No excessive description(it needs to tell me about you.) Stop repeating the same idea over: every sentence needs to be essential so for the narrative and should bring something new to your essay Transions:

Here is my ACT story. I've taken ACT 4x and about to take it a fifth. First time, I took it in my junior year and got a 19. Second time in my junior year, I got a 20. Third time in my junior year, I got a 22, but notably, I got my reading and English up by 5-6 pts to 25 and 26 respectively. Problem is my math and science remained both at 19 for the past three tests. The last test I took though, I got a 23. English went down by one, reading went down by 4... but my math went up by 3 and science went up by 6!!! If my reading hadn't gone down and my English and reading had at least stayed the same, I would've gotten a 25, which is what I am currently aiming for. I take it in four days and my goal is between a 27-30, a 36 would be lovely, but for me as a person who struggles to take tests, it's most likely not realistic, but hey you never know. One tip Ik is that reading and science test the same skill and they shouldn't be but at max 1 pts apart. I still haven't gotten there but hopefully soon! Wish me luck and I'll be back with my new score soon :)

I think their problem is the fact most people have an idea of what they wanted to do and seen the timeline as (graduate hs, go to college, get an internship, graduate, then find the job) when there’s so many missing pieces but instead of thinking it out methodically they spend all their time trying to get into their dream school and once they get accepted they think it’s where the road ends and they take their foot off the pedal and get comfortable, that is a mindset that will kill you. The higher up the totem pole you go just means more responsibility on your plate, more eyes on you, and the expectations will only grow and you need to remember that for the rest of your life. I also think the lack of give a fcks came from a bad habit that started to spoil your head. When you mentioned it I was waiting to hear “what made you feel this way.” You said the breakup isn’t an excuse and it’s not but it’s how you reacted to the breakup/tragedy. Tragedy comes in many forms but from how you out it, you took it pretty rough (no judgment), procrastinated once and rather than catching your mistake you decided to do it again and formed a bad habit that also changed your mindset in a negative way. I think it’s crucial that you look back at it, how you reacted, and LEARN from it so YOU KNOW HOW TO MOVE WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. Tragedy will come again. Could be another breakup, could be financial blow, fired from a job, or one day could receive news that someone you held very close to your heart is no longer here. Either way you need to keep it pushin and understand it is not an excuse to take your foot off the gas. This video is a year old but all in all if things are ever going bad I think it’s important you take a day to reflect on not just the negatives and struggles and say it’ll be ok, but what YOU did to get yourself in that situation and what person YOU NEED TO BE to overcome it.

1) metaphor must be integrated throughout the essay (not just intro or conclusion) Fresh perspective ..not an object..should mean something to u personally, don’t use one everyone heard before 2) do not make direct statements..make more descriptive and specific 3) narrative of personal transformation and change but a lot of people do not include what changed they talking about. Catalyst doesn’t come from their experiences …my parents caused me … focus should be you …you be the source of personal change Thought process from point A to point B . “My fish died so I had to keep track of my fish food so I had to be more organized.” 4) do not focus on other ppl/somewhere …Talk abt YOU…at most one paragraph abt someone else 5) no excessive adverbs/forcing descriptive words Bring me into your life. Background, significant moments Adverbs can be too elementary 6) do not *repeating same idea over and over again* Essential for narrative Same thing over and over again Last sent 1st paragraph and first sentence of 2nd paragraph are too similar
