Geoffrey had a lot of mental problems. For the most part he was harmless, but he assaulted my small niece by slapping her in the face for no reason as he walked past her. She was only five. Years later I was on a train to Skipton and he was in a dreadful state. Poor fellow was shaking like a leaf. Only a few months later I heard he had passed away. RIP

He must have waved at every single person over time, he would wave as if he remembered each and everyone, I was a small child when I first saw him, I’m a lot older now and still every now and then I would see him and to me he never looked any older ,,

I grew up in Bradford in the 1960’s and 70’s and then moved to London. I remember Geoffrey. He could pop up anywhere, but my main memories are of him walking along Rooley Lane close to the West Bowling Golf Course Club House. I have often wondered what happened to him. Thrilled to have stumbled across this video and all the very lovely (and well earned) tributes to him.

Aki's part of the history is interesting, and i had no idea he was from Bradford. There's something very fascinating about the bradford punk scene. my mam is from down the road in halifax and was around for the first wave of punk herself, having my gran as a seamstress as she would often ask her to design punk clothes for her and regaling me with stories with how Crass once played one of the social clubs in the area. on the bfd side though, I imagine you know my previous exes father Stephen, who played in the band Vexx.

I knew Stephen very well I was at his wedding Last time i saw him which was decades ago Last time i saw him he was in Hebden Bridge What was fascinating about the Bradford Punks was the diversity of the group Anyone who didn't fit into normal society got involved with the Bradford punk scene It was a great time for Bradford

@@johnajohnson4216 ah that's lovely. sadly me and the previous mentioned are a memory in the past now i'd rather forget. i did find her a picture of him during his time in vexx which she really appreciated, thanks to the power of the internet and all. my mam's crowd of punks were very same, i see still her old punk boyfriend among my travels in halifax, he himself is still in love with the lifestyle, as much is myself. good times for all.

@@keironhiggspoet I don't think i met Steve's Daughter ;we;ll i did but she was very young back in the Hebden Bridge days I really liked Steve He had issues but so do more people When i had a serious health issue Steve was a great help as he had experienced a similar situation There was a place called called the Good Mood in Halifax back in 77 /78 which was above the George Pub We would sometimes go over there when they had good bands on

I wonder if anyone remembers my late wife, Margaret Fieldhouse. She was at Buttershaw in the late 1950s/early 1960s. She had a spell nursing at St Luke's, but later worked at the Baird TV factory at Lidgett Green. We married in 1969 & moved to Leics. She sadly died in 2003 at only 57. I've had a couple of nostalgic trips back to Bradford to show our son where his mum lived & grew up. I met her at an evening fitness class at Buttershaw in 1967 (she had left a few years earlier & was working at Bairds by then), but the old building seems to have vanished.

Still shocking that members of Bradford council didn’t go to prison regarding the clear corruption involved with this cinema. They left it to rot for years and tried to get a payday until being found out and covered up.

Happy memories of the Skive n Jive gig at Bradford Uni outdoors in the summer, the first time I saw a charismatic bloke in a t shirt with “ fuck off” and the anarchy sign. The next time I saw him he was the front man of The Negativz. How much fun was it as a teenager to leap around in a pub with the smell of sweaty leather jackets and beer to that music? Thanks for the video.

I'm a new-ish resident of Bradford, and a Mexican/American Indian immigrant here, and more proud today than ever to have settled in Bradford. I've left behind my own very rich No-Coast Midwest American punk scene to settle here, with my husband- an OG Bradford goth/punk. I'm really honoured to have such a vibrant cast of crew that made this area badass far before I ever came this way. Thank you Johna and Aki and all the Bradford scene folks for the rich history this elder American scene kid gets to settle in. I do hope this sometime becomes a full length piece, as I'd love to see it. <3

Best thing is not to get pregnant when you can't afford children, and in the case of the runaway fathers why should the taxpayers bring up your babies. With the second girl she had more morals but why was the boyfriend doing? Why can't be work? These people are always going to get a job in the future, oh really that's more unlikely than seeing rocking horse shit on the pavement.
