Happy that you are back. I use your videos for advice because I want to start my lock next month. I have fine hair mid density. So I want to use the brick type grid and start with twist. But for the first time I want to interlock the the root with the two point rotation. Still wondering about the size though. Can you please so pictures on how you did the grid. Because in your video I do see bigger section in stead of lines? Thanks for sharing your journeys so for. It had been really helpful

That's good news, I hope you did your installation, if not, I would advise to fully interlock them instead of starting with twists. They will evolve more evenly and you likely prevent bunching.

So glad to have you back! 3.5 years into my first journey and I finally re-counted and found out that I have 248 locs. However, I've been seriously considering restarting because 1) COVID messed up my grid when I didn't have access to my usual loctitian 2) I would really like my locs more uniform in size. Maybe it's my type A personality, but the difference in individual loc thickness matters to me more than it should 😄 Or maybe I'm just itching for a change. I don't want to tell anyone in my life because now that my locs are armpit length I feel they won't take it well. People become more invested in your hair than you realize. Even more than you the wearer. It's kind of crazy, but I understand it though. Oh, I get what you mean about the bunching. I too started with twists, carried them for 6 months, then took down the twists and interlocked.

@@fenetiwoman Oh! I cut them on a whim a few months after typing that comment 😅 Predictably, everyone behaved exactly how I thought they would. I left between 3-4 inches though. Took them all out and then restarted them a few weeks later. They're so short now, each locs sticks out in every direction 😄 But it's okay. 4 years will be gone in a flash.

Hi! I just found your videos. ❤ I'm planning on installing my own locks but I'm contemplating the grid pattern. I have fine 4B/4C hair & want ultimate volume. Have you discovered any real cons with the bricklayer method? The only thing I can think of is not being able to install box braids over them should I desire to do that (since the parting will be off).

My answer will probably be too late by now. But anyway, you can install braids even with the bricklayer grid, I did it and it was not even visible.

Are yiu happy with the amount you have , I thought you wanted much less & desired a different look? Do you interlock the new growth? Great content look forward to the next one.

At the end of the day, it's the microlocs for me, I tried fewer locs but somehow I prefer this. With my sister being here, she can help me with the maintenance. Thanks for stopping by and for sharing an update of your journey.

I LOVED your first set. To me they were perfection 🥰 The shape, the fullness, the color, the volume....it was GOALS. I learned so much from your first journey. Thanks for being an inspiration. I'll be following this one closely as well. I too started with twists and maintained with interlocking. Then after exactly 6 months I got impatient and took down the twisted part and interlocked it 😅 It's exactly 4 years since I installed those twists, so part of my locs will be 4 years come next month, and part will be 4 years in October 😆 Makes for some interesting conversations. Blessings on this your new journey.

So good to see you ❤. I used your videos and your book when I started my locs journey 1 year ago, and I started with the twist. We have exactly the same hair texture and I had the length the same. About the fact that is not regular like your previous locs don’t worry it will go away and become more uniform

Thanks for coming back to watch my videos. I am so happy you've stayed on your loc journey. For years is a long time and definitely an achievement. Starting over is not easy but I'm glad I eventually chose to go with microlocs.

Hi Hair Twin! LOL You were my coach, my inspiration and my model when I finished my first set of microlocs April 29th, 2022. We have the same super tight 4c, SAME hairline - my right is a little bigger indent (is yours left?), SAME top/back area that's courser and doesn't grow as fast, we both do black dye. You started with a few inches more hair though and MAY be a little thicker. LOL I was a little sad that you were ending your journey as I was starting mine back then, but eternally grateful for you sharing your journey. I was hoping for 75% of the amazing outcome your 42 months looked like. But I too took mine out (370) after two months, regretted it, and finished install again Sept 12, 2022 - 360 this time. And YES - the sizing was cuz I LOVED YOURS! FYI my interlocking tool, Enam's, I order from Ghana. And here we are - UNBELIEVABLY BOTH at 7 months on a set of 360 microlocs EACH!!! My 2nd set is 100% interlocked as was the first. I had to reach out and tell you. I'll be watching EVERY video. Thank you so much. You made all the difference to me. You gave me confidence and faith in my outcome.

It always a clarifying shampoo. I vary with the hair dye, I used to use henna, then later a foam-like hair dye from Schwarzkopf.

Glad to see you back! I started my locs after watching all of your videos last year to convince myself 😊 my locs are about the same size as your current set. I wanted them smaller to achieve 350-400. But installer suggested a larger size because I have fine strands and high density. So she was concerned about breakage. I wished it was thicker until I did my first self retie. I have 285 and was grateful I didn’t have as much as initially wanted. Excited to follow your new journey!
