Hi, I hear a TRRRR noise from the engine when I am at half gas and under load. I feels like knocking sound. Did you have ever this problem? I put some octane booster but no luck. Didn't these have a facelift where, no matter what model 600 you had, the boot badge would always say '600'. The rust-proofing seemed to get better after about R-reg, as there are still quite a few well-kept late-model 600s around my area, in Exeter. If I was looking for a viable, stylish replacement for the family Polo, I would begin a long search for a clean, early 115bhp 620i in British Racing Green or Caribbean Blue, as the entry-level versions still had that executive-car feel and was not cheapened in any way, shape or form. The underrated and understated 620ti is still very quick.

The part ordered is correct for the Zetec SE motorization. But the distribution of the hydraulic system in your car does not correspond to a Focus DAW MK1 1.6 16v, which is appropriate for the piece that has arrived to you. In the mentioned distribution, this switch is embedded in the middle of a metal tube that comes out of the steering pump towards the rack.

Is there a TSB from Ford regarding CHF? I know there is one for OAT replacing older coolant. If not, do you know the year maybe? CHF is technically superior to ATF as far as I understand but the correct ATF, not some generic one, is still a proven fluid so I don't think it's too bad if you run ATF. It doesn't seem like you should though when you have a superior choice. From my (minor) research mixing them isn't good as they have different additives that don't like each other. And about parts made in Mexico. There is a reason for this. Firstly, Bosch is very established there since a long time and has several production plats. Secondly, there are US companies that design/make parts for European Fords and a lot of production has moved to Mexico, a bordering country with lots of cheap labour.
@usuallyfixingtinkering
@usuallyfixingtinkering 7 күн бұрын
The parts manufacturing in Mexico is something I've only just heard of and your comment has confirmed about Bosch's existance over there! Mixing the fluids is what has happened to many MK1's because the fluid 195-A as quoted in the Haynes manual is ONLY for topping-up purposes, therefore owners and garages have been following this. However I am gobsmacked that no questions the use of ATF, when these cars clearly came out the factory with green CHF fluid. As stated in this video, ATF won't cause any damage (unlike not changing the fluid at all which helps kills the rack) but is not the optimum fluid to gain a true MK1 driving experience from when they were new! That is the aim of this video ultimately, to warn on preventing expensive issues with the switch and to use the intend fluid from the factory to gain the best experience of a MK1.
@vevos_
@vevos_ 7 күн бұрын
@@usuallyfixingtinkering Volvo did a good thing because they put either a red or green colour on the underside of the cap to tell if you should fill ATF or CHF... however something went wrong and some red caps were put on cars filled with the green stuff and the manuals were often wrong. People are still discussing what fluid is correct. To me it seems confusion arises when it comes to the Focus because Ford wasn't really clear enough that CHF was the correct original fluid with 195-A circulating everywhere.
@usuallyfixingtinkering
@usuallyfixingtinkering 6 күн бұрын
I have to agree with that, it's very unclear and I'd advise that as well as videos like this that enthusiasts spread the info about this. Hopefully ATF usage will stop in the enthusiast world of the MK1 at least!
