Dave I’ve fallen down a Denver rabbit hole, it’s only 4600 miles away 😂 I love this video the editing is insane?!

😂 i appreciate that! this was from an experimental period where I paid my friend and editor to do these spotlight videos, but they didn't take off like i had hoped! i LOVED making them, and might come back to them one day :)

Thanks for the review! I just tried Nana’s today. While the green beans were spectacular and the ambiance is “dive bar cool”, the dumplings, especially the chicken and corn dumplings (which we hadn’t even ordered but we didn’t feel like waiting another 25 minutes for them to get the order right) were nearly inedible. I still have the aftertaste of cigarettes and dishwater in my mouth. Also, $100 (including tip) for 2 people to eat a light lunch and no booze. Oof… Hopefully King’s is better!
@davechungКүн бұрын
It seems like Nana’s is being hit or miss lately! I’ve had really good experiences in Aurora, but that’s a bummer that yours wasn’t good! On a better day (if you’re open to going back), those dumplings can be really good!
@motojauntxКүн бұрын
@@davechung i hear ya. But it is extra tough to justify the hefty bill on top of everything else. I used to live on steamed dumplings back in the day cuz they were cheap. Now…2 people could get a steak dinner with wine for what 3 orders of dumplings, a veggie roll, some green beans ($20!!!) and 2 cups of juice cost; just maybe not in Aurora…is everyone rich who lives there nowadays 🫣
@davechung22 сағат бұрын
@@motojauntx it is crazy how much everything costs these days. Just for me to make one of these videos and try out enough things at enough places with my family, it probably costs me around $500-$700 each video. I feel your pain!

There's a new dim sum restaurant open in Broomfield called Hong Guan. It's at 120th & Main in the same building as the former dim sum restaurant whose name I can't remember at the moment. But it's a step up from the former restaurant, I liked it a lot. Definitely a great option for cart dim sum if you're up north.

Exactly, it’s definitely relative! If you’ve seen some things and some places where you literally can’t be in the wrong neighborhood at night (or even during the day!), Denver is just fine.

Honestly I was super excited to watch this video and the quality is good but I lost trust in your judgement after you gave Nanas dumplings in Aurora a decent review. My coworkers told us not go there because they did enjoy it at all. Regardless of this, all my friends still gave it a try and it was the worst dumpling place we’ve ever been to. Pricing was way too high and there was no flavor in anything. What you said about the truffle was so true even though the waitress highly recommended it to us. There was no truffle or mushroom taste as far as we could tell. The green beans were the best thing on the menu. But absolutely one of the most lukewarm experiences we’ve had thus far. Although we did hear that the other Nanas locations were phenomenal. Maybe they were banking too much on the brand and the quality hasn’t been there when they opened. Keep in mind my friends and coworkers are Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Latino. Even Masons tastes better. When people say there’s not good Asian restaurants here, it’s absolutely true relative to many other cities, so that statement still stands. But that’s not to say there aren’t many great places to go to. It’s definitely getting better every year.

Thanks so much, AW! I really appreciate it! It has gotten so much better in the past 5 years, and you’re totally right. Once you know where to look (not always easy!), it’s become a pretty solid food city 🙂
