On a real one since you don’t have a barrel long enough, most of the energy will be wasted as a giant fireball. In return, the recoil is significantly softer

0:55 This is the way I have used the notch to greatest success. If zeroed properly, consistent hits out to 300 yards (about 274 meters) are no problem on silhouette sized targets using this method of alignment. I recognize that the notch was intended mostly for low light or "closer" engagements, but it can be used out farther as well. The method you show at 1:13 *CAN* be used, especially for closer distances (50 yards and in for example) but I don't think it would be the best too much past that, mostly because keeping the front post centered consistently would be a challenge.

For longer distance the other three peep holes works much better. The notch is intended to be used for closer distance
