I have never been to Brussels but I can guarantee you it is no where even remotely close to being Europe’s most boring city. It seems to have a lot of tourist attractions like most large Belgian cities. The picture made from flowers in the old town seems so cool. I really really don’t get how Brussels could be Europe’s most boring city or even capital.

Do you recommend first class if international students arrived from schiphol and planning to Utrecht Centraal with luggages? Im just feeling a bit anxious how crowded it will be & if i even strong enough to carry the luggage between the lane and the door step entrance of the train 😢

7:05 The thing is, you also get compartments and open quiet spaces in 2nd class. Compartments are very rare on ICEs, as most of the trains don’t have them anymore. It‘s really just the ICE 1/2/3, and on some units of these you still don’t get compartments. You were lucky that the compartment wasn’t booked by some persons.

The first class is only to ensure that you always have a place to sit. Nothing more than that.

I loved Brussels! I had a great time.

First class on German regional trains is similar: No great difference, just less crowded if second class is very full. In times of low demand the difference is negligible. Occasionally I get affordable saver fares (Supersparpreis) for first class journeys of longer distance, and if these include local trains along the way of course I also use the first class there. But otherwise it wouldn't be worth the surcharge. You get a table, a different seat cover, a bit of legroom but that's it. Now if first class offered reclining seats for morning commuters to take a nap during their journey (and a coffee is served to wake up afterwards) that would really be worth paying extra for a number of people, I'm sure.

Weed is NOT legal in Amsterdam or in the rest of the Netherlands. The sale is (in Dutch) "gedoogd ". That concept is almost untranslatable ("tolerated under strict rules" comes close) but is absolutely essential to the Dutch culture. And most Dutch people eat their dinner at 18.00 hours. At least at home.

Cool setup to have to get out of Ireland with these challenges! But going for dinner for fun felt a bit like cheating. It's not really a difficult challenge to do a fun activity. It felt like you just wanted to get that specific flight instead of putting in a bit more effort for the challenge.

I had a really good time in Brussels. In Bruges too (not the film). Bruges is not the most happening city but it has good architecture. Overall in my whole trip in Belgium I went to many museums, saw amazing arctitecture, went drinking at night. The main purpose was the Weird Al Yankovic concert in Brussels. But I did have a blast during my short time. Plus they have beer, fries, chocolate and waffles...what's not to like!
