Nice one Ethan. As others have said, reviews of this kind for videographers are few and far between, so that was nice to see. I guess we are all looking for character lenses to avoid our footage looking like it was filmed on a 'phone. I might give this one a try. Take care!

do you see a circular view in the viewfinder or is it stretched out to all corners? because when I see 6.5mm videos they're almost a full circle, but 7.5mm is a square video, idk if you stretched the corners in post or not?

I don’t believe I cropped any of the photo / video samples within this video. I sold the lens a while back, but if I remember correctly it covered the full APS-C sensor with some slight vignetting in the corners… basically what you see in the samples.

I use his Greenback for the Vox, and his G10 Vintage for the Fender. I’ve been pretty happy with them compared to the stock IRs!

One advice mate.. When you are reviewing a lens or camera, provide some sample images as well just to show how that product performs. So, you while reviewing do a voiceover provide some image samples as well. Thanks

lol dude. the x100v is a fixed lens camera. you can't add this lens to it or any of the x100 line cameras. you need an interchangeable body like any of the x-e line, the x-t line, etc.

Thank you! I had my Zoom H5 + Zoom SSH-6 shotgun mic set up about 5 feet away pointed directly at me. So rather than singing into a mic + having a mic for my guitar, I simplified by having the single shotgun mic picking everything up… any shotgun style mic would work the same. Hope that helps!

@@ethan.t.barnes can you make some edits after recording? Some pitch corrections? I know it's hard to record voice and acoustic guitar at the same time because they both go into the microphones.

@@stanislavmirchev Ah… yeah that’s a down side of recording with only one mic. Generally I’m just adding EQ adjustments. I just consider the pitch imperfections as authenticity 😆

Do you think the 10-24 is too heavy for this?

I feel like it should balance with the 10-24, since it’s much lighter than the 16-55. I believe the 10-24 zoom is internal (I could be wrong) but that would make it more optimal too. The 16-55 couldn’t balance at 16, and had no chance at all of balancing at 55 lol P.S. I’ve always loved your Fuji content 👍🏻

Hi, thanks for your personal review and insight into this lens. I just acquired it short time ago as I own a couple of more TT lenses and quite satisfied with the results. To give you my personal thought on a fisheye lens, I had used a Sigma fisheye lens on my Minolta body long time ago and honestly I loved it for the extra bonus shots it provided me especially because of the distorsion. Most of the time I used the distorsion and special features out of the lens for architectural pics in cities or spectacular landscape views. But you got to love it, if you do then the Fisheye features will deliver some nice moments.

I totally agree with you - it all comes down to whether you like the distortion or not. I liked it for architecture like you mentioned, but for me that’s very little of what I’m shooting… ultimately I ended up selling this lens a few days ago. I just wasn’t reaching for it at all since shooting this review, so it was time to move on. I still think it’s a great lens though… you just have to be looking for that fisheye look!

Hey, sorry for the late reply! I don’t have the lens to test, but I feel pretty confident that it should work well (especially at 18mm) since the 18-55 is quite light.

@@husseinaliabdulzahraal-dul1575 hello. Unfortunately, i do not have that lens. But I have a 7artisans 50mm f0.95. Based from my search, it (420g for 7artisans) is almost the same weight as the 16-80mm (440g). But you can check the spec sheet of this gimbal if the lens is on their list

Hi! I can’t answer that unfortunately, but the 16-80 (440g) is at least quite a bit lighter than the 16-55 (657g) which I couldn’t get to balance, although I’m not sure if this gimbal could handle it still… I’d be interested if anyone else has tested it though!

@@ethan.t.barnes your statement seems accurate, as the other Fuji users that abought this gimbal that I came across said the same. Which is a bummer, I really wanted to like this gimbal, but I do want to use it in pair with the 16-55mm f2.8 lens, and if that not possible that's unfortunate. I've seen this gimbal handling Sony full frame cameras with decently big/long zoom lenses and thought, hey I'm in aps-c, so why not, but it's not the case it seems 🤔🙁

Thanks for the video footage, almost all reviews are photography based. I was curious to see if i could use it to film myself since its manual focus.

It works well for that use! Even wide open at f1.4 I didn’t have too much trouble keeping myself in focus - just make sure you have a monitor and focus peaking enabled, and you’re good to go!

Great short film,I recently got my copy of the same lens for MFT, and took a few shots and the quality looks great, my only problem is that I have to struggle to mount and unmount the lens on my Olympus camera, it is really tight and I'm afraid to damage the mount on my camera, it takes a few tries to even make the lens click on the camera and be able to take shots, I wonder if this is only a problem with the copy I got or if other MFT shooters have the same issue. Thanks.

Thank you! Interesting - I haven’t exactly had that issue with my APS-C version of the lens, although I do struggle some times to get a decent grip on it to mount/unmount because the focus ring is pretty close to the base… not much to grip when mounting.
