thanks for the help. I just made 2 potion bottles props from the book their based off on. What I discovered is its hard to use metalic paint because of the extra ingredients. Since they both used mica powder, I bought some from etsy (warning, one of the sellers says its "5g" but its way too small to be 5 grams). Then after searching online, I found out that home depot also sells rubber corks, however they only come in black (Which is fine for me. Because its an victorian era potion bottle. I didn't use the twine method). I did the distilled water and the oil you mentioned too. So yeah, I'm happy with how they turned out! I made 2 to put on my shelf. I decided to use a glass bottle of the science beaker from Michaels in the Halloween section for the one on the shelf, another is an small plastic bottle I can use for an Halloween costume and not worry about it breaking. Thanks for the help!

I'm finding that black is such a HARD color to shift. I really wanted to do a red-to-black (and the reverse) potion but more experimenting is needed. It just looks muddy with what I use ( black alcohol ink using 70% iso, glycerin, and black diamond pigments mica).

Suggestion: Consider making your potion stickers into SVG’s, remove your name tagging and allow people to buy the SVG’s off Etsy. They can then use on their sellable products. You make money and it helps people out who don’t know how to make the stickers. It’s a win win. It will drive more traffic to both your Etsy and your KZfaq as well as help your followers thrive. Digital downloads are always profitable. Thank me later. 😊 Oh and keep your name on the freebies for personal use.

Hello! I love your videos! I wanted to make you a question. What is the duration of the potions when using the gel? I've seen the differences between the glicerin, water and alcool, but you are the first I see using the gel. I'm getting married in to the beginning of September and my wedding theme is Harry Potter. I wanted to do some potions to use as decor, but I also want to do some mini potions to give at my invities as souvenier. I wanted those ones to have the longes duration possible, Thus my question. I can't seem to make my bottles waterproof 😭 I was using hot glue but that doesn't always seal properly. I bought some gorilla contact adhesive as suggested here and that took hours to dry and has still let liquid though (and really smells!) I can't understand what I'm doing wrong 😞
@CookingandCraftChick

@@lizziflaherty4317 make sure the neck of the bottle is really dry and that your cork is dry get a good seal. Then use e6000 or the gorilla glue and go around the top of the bottle and cork. It will take a couple hours to dry. I recommend just doing it before you go to bed and just leave it sit. If you find that your cork is trying to rise up because maybe it’s not getting the best seal, after you put the glue around put some weight on top of it. Let it sit until fully dry then you should be good. My guess is that it got shaken too soon before it was really set or the cork didn’t fit that well.

@@amymassey3564 you may get some cloudiness or “floaties” in your potions down the line; but you may not. A lot depends on the quality of your tap water. Which is why if I use water it is distilled water with a tiny bit of alcohol or glycerin to keep it clean. Your corks should be good 😊
