This is like a Branchline Locomotive like what you wouldve found in Iowa sometime in 1930

The bit we tend to forget is that this loco is one of the very rarest wheel arrangements left in working condition in the UK. Once an accepted design, then superceded by the 4-6-0 concept.
@James-the-idiotКүн бұрын
Over here in the states it's the same story with 4-8-2 mountain types, good locomotives, but overshadowed by 4-8-4 northerns. There is VERY FEW mountains left but a lot of northerns.

I'm fortunate enough to have seen the original going through Clapham Junction in the mid 50's, I was probably 10 at the time. I've also been down to the open days at Atlantic House on a couple of occasions to view the rebuild in progress and I must say the quality of the work and the attention to detail is magnificent. It's been along time coming, but the wait is well worth it, so congratulations to the Bluebell Railway and the engineers and designers in bringing this to fruition. The loco has a nice healthy bark to it!

Now we have the first D. E. Marsh new built (As he had rebuilt the A1's designed by Stroudley and the B2's, C2's, E4's, E5's, and E6's designed by R. J. Billinton into the larger reboilered X range) and the second new build of L. B. Billinton (Who gets partial credit for the H2's as he was granted authority to build six new Atlantic locomotives while D. E. Marsh was on leave due to illness, and they were similar to Marsh's H1's, but with superheaters. Plus, L. B. had previously had done the larger reboilered X range work on the B4's designed by his father, plus his new build E2's.) now in preservation.
